Finally this morning

I finally got to go out this morning for the third time this season. I was in the woods at 5am this morning and heard turkeys on the roast where they usually are in the morning. They didn't fly down till 6:15. I made a few soft calls and they responded instantly. I could hear at least 5 birds gobbling. I soon realized they were walking away from me so I made several soft calls and they gobbled again several times and I knew I was still in the race. I soon saw a red head coming through an opening in the stone wall strutting but he was still 75 yrds out. He would go back and forth looking for that "hen" for several minutes and he decided to go down again. I stop him with a few soft calls and four birds gobbled. The tom call back again towards me strutting with another strutting tom and two jakes. They all starting gobbling in front of me. It was awesome. The one tom came within the 50yrd mark and was greeted with a #5 shot in the face and the rest of the birds didn't stick around to see their partners fate. It was a great morning. He was about 22lbs with a 10inch beard and 1in spurs. He had a few tail feathers broken but I wasn't waiting for the other bird to make a mistake.
