Beginning of the End

Tonight is my last home basketball game. It will be the last time that my name and number will be announced as a starter for the Moss Pirates on my home court. We have a special ceremony before the game were all the senior athletes are recognized for their services and achievements during high school. Then after the game they will retire our jerseys into the hall of remembrance in which we take a picture holding our jersey and they put it on a plaque in the gym. It's kinda sad I guess as it just hit me today, that this is the beginning of the end of my highschool career. I mean I have district playoffs in ball left, but this is my last Home game, and after basketball season, I will begin my last season of baseball. It's kind of freaky to think about. Anyways, keep me on your minds tonight and maybe I can pull off a career night on the scoreboard. My best this season is 27. I hope my last game is one to remember. All you seniors out there enjoy yourselves. We only have a few months left......

Re: Beginning of the End

YB---I remember my last wrestling match at high school state in Gallagher Arena in Stillwater. I wrestled that last match giving it all i had. I lost that match--in the consolation semi-finals. After the match I went to a corner and broke down. My dad and my coach were beside me--telling me not to be upset for loosing. I wasn't upset for loosing---it was just the fact that I has started wrestling since 2nd grade and had just wrestled the last match of my career. It was kind of heartbreaking.

I hope you enjoy your last game and hope you go out a winner!

Re: Beginning of the End

Good luck man. Its a SUPER hard time in an athletes life is to play the last one. I remember when I screwed my knee up my senior year in football during the 4th game. I cried the entire bus ride home....not because of pain in my knee, but the pain knowing I will never step on that football field again to represent my school. Its something you will never get over, but something you will have to deal with and look back at all the good times. Then of course we had senior/parents night b4 our last game. They introduced all the seniors and their parents and we came out on the field in front of pretty much our entire community. There was only 6 of us and one guy busted out crying while the announcer was saying the farewell speach to the seniors in front of the crowd and b4 it was over we were all crying and the game hadnt even started yet, lol. But this is a time you will cherish and it is only the start to a new beginning!!

Yea I wont ever forget my last baseball game! I waslk playing is a semi playoffs game! I had only struck out 6 times the whole year! I have the best batting average and was the best hitter on the team! There were 2 outs I was up runner on thrid! That runner on 3rd put us into extra innings! But you know what! That at bat was my 7th strike out of the year! I was so diappointed! Everyone on the team knew i was gonna get a hit "LIKE ALWAYS" But I ended up with a K!

Sure sucks and they will be missed!

Re: Beginning of the End

Graduating is tough for a number of reasons, one being the sports you will never get to play again. I wish I had stayed in sports throughout high school, but no turning back time. Guess there is a reason why I didn't play. Have fun. If nothing else HAVE FUN! Goes for baseball too...just get out there and enjoy the crack of the bat, the feel of a solid catch and the sound of the crowd.....remember it all. Graduation night will be tough, but beyond it is bigger and better things. Kinda blows growing up, doesn't it.............. frown.gif
