wtnhunt
LOL. Try and teach kids something sheesh, I showed you lespedeza today knucklehead.:D:D Here are some pics of Christina working on her plot. I did disk it for her, and we did spray roundup last week, she has been involved with this project this will be the third year and she helped this year with dragging off the plot and with spreading the seed. wtnhunt
Looks good Christina! Hopefully you'll have better weather than you have in the last 2. Have gotten better cooperation from mother nature so far this year for sure bud. It has rained on and off since we finished up planting. Have not measured, but we have gotten quite a bit of rain. The 2007 plot the seed was in the ground for quite some time before we ever got any rain, and we ended up with a lot of weeds. Thread from her 2007 plot http://www.realtree.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58622. 2008 the plot did better, here is a thread on last years plot http://www.realtree.com/forums/showthread.php?t=74894. I have seen the scoring sheets, and really don't know where we can improve any on this plot, but maybe the plot will score better this year and she will go to the regional and state judging. Next year we might have to plant a different location, I will talk with the warden and the 4h guy this year granted they judge the plot while I am here. They judge on size of the plot, shape of the plot, proximity to water, cover near the plot, and then on the actual content of the plot or how the plants look. Very Cool. My little boy loves to ride the tractor while foodplotting. I hope your effort pays off with a 1st place and a nice buck! Her mother killed her buck the year before last standing in that plot working a scrape at the edge of it. We have seen a lot of deer in that plot. wtnhunt
i still didn't understand you after you told me. There is some lespedeza growing in the field, we can go back and check to see if we have any germination in your plot yet and look at it again this afternoon. redkneck
Your doing better than me! It's rained down here so much there's no hope of getting peas planted at the camp for at least 2 weeks and that's only if it stops raining now! Hope your plot does good for you. wtnhunt
one week after planting-pics Always fun to watch progress. Off to a much better start this year. Appears the deer are checking on the future groceries already. Plot is full of tracks. Oak tree back behind Christina always has scrape activity under those overhanging limbs. Glad I left that tree when I cleared the brush.
