Anyone shooting without a kisser???

Just set up my Outback tonight, and I decided to try and shoot without the kisser button. It's like riding a bicycly without training wheels for the first time. Every time I draw, the corner of my mouth is looking for the kisser. I seem to be shooting pretty good with it off. Not sure if I'm gonna leave it off, or put it back on yet.

Who else is shooting with out the kisser?

Re: Anyone shooting without a kisser???

I decided to go without it to try to cut down on noise, and gain a few fps in speed. My brother has been shooting without one the past year. I just bought his 2004 Outback from him. We set it up tonight, and he didn't have the kisser on it, so I just left it off for now.

i was just wondering what kind of stuff did you end up putting on that bow?(rest,sight,ect...)

Matt.. The bow is a 27.5 inch draw, 60-70 pound bow. It has a Vital Bow Gear- Ultimate Fall Away rest, A Copper John Dead Nuts Hunter sight, that is soon to be replaced with a Viper Archery Products Camo Predator Hunter sight. It had a doinker D2 4 " Shorty Hunter Stabalizer. Winners Choice String, Shurz peep, I'm shooting Gold Tip XT Hunters 55/75's

I never had a kisser button on mine either, my outback is set up with a muzzy zero effect rest, vital bow gear trapper sight, truglo stabilizer, winners choice strings/cables, I love my scott littl bitty goose release. I shoot blackhawk vapor 4000 arrows. My draw is 28". What kind of fps are you shooting with your outback?

Re: Anyone shooting without a kisser???

I've never shot with a kisser on any of my bows, but I am going to try one this summer. My last surgery has left everything below my jawline completely numb.

I missed 3 deer this year (which has never happened), and while I won't make the excuse that it was because I couldn't feel my anchor, I think it may have had something to do with the misses. Hopefully the kisser will help me get anchored correctly next year.

Re: Anyone shooting without a kisser???

I don't use one. I might even try not using a peep this year, just to see what it is like.

The Outback and Switchback that I shot were both short, at 27". I usually anchor with the string on my nose and my index finger knuckle on my earlob. I couldn't do that and it felt VERY awkward. crazy.gif

Re: Anyone shooting without a kisser???

Not me, never have. I have three referencs points when I anchor that are so natural, I'm never moving to see my peep, if I can't see through my peep, something else is wrong. I anchor my release hand by placing my index finger knuckle, with palm down, under my ear and behind jaw bone. The string lines up with my nose centered and also the string passed alond the corner of my mouth, right where a kisser should be anyway, right? It has worked well for me.

Re: Anyone shooting without a kisser???

Never used a Kisser Button.

Always thought that it would add another reference point though. I find it hard to believe that some people have found them to be noisey or add vibration.

There is nothing to them to do that with IMO

Might try adding one this spring to help be more consistent.

I'm shooting a 27.5" draw length, at 61 pounds. 27.5" Gold Tip XT Hunters. Total arrow weight of 380 grains. Shot it through the chrono last night and got 248- 250 fps. Was a little dissapointed actually, but with the short draw length, and the low poundage I can't really complain.

Re: Anyone shooting without a kisser???

It just happened that the first bow I ever got, when I was green as grass, came c/w a kisser. For several years I shot that way with 3 different bows. It gradually dawned on me that finding my kisser while hunting with a wool face mask on in very cold weather was very difficult. So I finally went without a kisser and made sure I had enough other solid anchor points. My accuracy is better now than at any time previously, although that may also be a function of better equipment and developed form. IMO, kissers are not necessary and can even be a hindrance.

I have never used a kisser button. But I viewed them as a way to create consistant anchor point. Sort of a training devise. I would say it did its job, because it sounds like you are shooting well without it.

Re: Anyone shooting without a kisser???

Nope dont like em.

To much stuff on the string already to add stuff I dont need. If you use a release you should be able to put a finger nail, finger tip, or whatever, from your release hand on a specific spot on your jaw or face and its the same as a kisser. JMO

I use over sized peep hole on my peep sight and large fiber optic pins.

Never shot better with anything more then that. Beleive me I have tried all kinds of stuff too.... crazy.gifgrin.gif
