Zambo
We had prescribe burned about 600 acres this spring on our property. After burning I like to go out and re-shed hunt this area as I always miss some. I found a year old set of sheds with a couple of broken tines laying in an area that is 3 foot high grass before the burn. They score around 150 inches. I did not have time to keep looking that day so I was out there at 6 am the next morning. About 100 yards straight north of the matched set I found a large dead buck. A big twelve pointer with four brows. This was a buck that I had been hunting with my bow for the last two years and I was sad to see him dead like that. He was alive in early February but that was the last time I had seen him. His rough score was about 162. After getting back to the shop I realized that it was from the same buck. He had died about 100 yards from where he had shed the year before. In less than 15 hours I had found a buck and his matched sheds all in one spot. toddyboman
WOW...heck of find....sure hate to find them that way. I have often heard bucks will shed there horns in the same general area year after year.....and you just put some good proof to that very statement

deershed
Wow,what a bittersweet find that is!! It's never fun finding them like that, but when you have a set of matched sheds off the same buck from the year before,it makes for some impressive finds!! What a Sweet buck he was!! Kels
After hunting him for the past few years it has to feel good to get him in the end, even if its not the way you wanted to get ahold of him. But you got his sheds to boot! He looked to be a very mature deer, hopefully he passed his double brows to his offspring
Tom2008
Yeah that deer is a pig! In the near future maybe you'll see some pictures of this buck in the Taxidermy room.
