need2hunt Posted May 27, 2009 Report Share Posted May 27, 2009 Last week I was in Alberta at Northern Adventure Hunts with Heather Chaney. First night out we had a 5 foot something bear come out and play around for a while. He ended up coming over and jumping on my tree and then went back over to the bait. He left and came back several times. But later in the night he heard something, raised his head and took off running. I little while later a bigger bear came out, he checked the bait and then came over to check me out, climbing all the way up until his head was even with the platform of the stand. Then he headed back down the tree and back into the woods. That's when I was worried he wouldn't come back out. But after ten minutes or so back out he came and my hoyt was able to send some carbon poisoning his way. He went about 60 yards and was done. need2hunt Posted May 27, 2009 Author Report Share Posted May 27, 2009 Way to go, Gary! That is a nice bear! Did you get it all on video? Yep, Freddy was behind the camera that night. I filmed Freddy kill his first one the next night and then his second one the last night. I was skunked one night and the other night I had to hunt we had a sow with 2 cubs come in and play around for about 2 hours. We had a great time, hope to be able to go back sometime. I have never hunted bear but tempted to put in for the Michigan Bear hunt. Glad to see you have success on a great looking bear! Congrats!
