johnf
Here is a very unscientific test I did on a couple of my sister's guns and mine and my wifes Glocks. I was really suprised, but it seemed on the video that my G19 kicked a bit more than my wifes 26. Also in the mix is a S&W Airlight 22lr and a Beretta Bobcat 22lr. m gardner
There's alot to consider when studying the controlabilty of handguns in recoil. Weight, weight distribution, grip configuration and the height of the barrel above your hand. Your hand placement on the grip has alot to do with it also. Todd Jarrett on youtube.com (Todd Jarrett On Pistol Shooting) has some video on IPSC Training that explains some of this and demonstrates proper form if you're interested. johnf
So if I use an identical grip on the 26 & 19 why does the 19 appear to jump more. Of course with the smaller 26 grip you've actually got less gun in your hand which would seem to me to cause more felt recoil, but it doesn't. m gardner
Try to get a better stance. Slight crouch, bent forward at the waist arms not resting on your chest. Then try it again. Your arms on your chest feels very steady but your breathing will affect your aim and you will find it impossible to hit when you move or are excited. johnf
Thanks for the tips. I've never made a vid. shooting and was basically doing it just to see how much muzzle jump the guns had. I was shooting into a silhouette at about 8 yards just doing a point and shoot. All shots were center body mass. Would like to see those videos next time I get a chance. I've never had any real training, just some cop friends giving me pointers. (not while I was shooting) I've been surprised how much that even helped.
