Grant-KS
Ok, now I'm kinda mad. I just watched the "yes, dear" show on Fox, and it was about a squirrel in the backyard that was bringing peanuts to the yard, and their little kid was allergic to peanuts. Anyway, they decided to shoot this thing with a pellet gun, and the one dude's friend was a hunter and had a pellet gun. So, "Billy" comes over in camo, apply cover scent (He says it's squirrel pee which grosses them all out) and they all sit on the back porch drinking beer and eating pizza. Then the one guy couldn't bring himself to shoot the poor wittle squirrel. So the next guy tries, he couldn't shoot it either. Then "Billy" comes out, grabs the gun, shoots it and yells LUNCH TIME!!! All the other guys are grossed out, and then they see the problem squirrel still eating peanuts. They tell him that he just shot an innocent squirrel, to which he replied "innocent or guilty, they all taste the same with a little mustard." Then the guy's wife comes home, and the guys scare the offending squirrel, and it runs under the car, and she runs over it. So "Billy" says he'll go scrape it off the road. The wife says she'll go get a bag for him. He says "nah, I don't need a bag, I'll just scoop it right into the crock pot." I think that someone besides "Yes, dear" is behind this show. It makes hunters look bad, and like slobs. The exact stereotype the antis want to give us. I don't know what people do about things like this, but it kinda ticked me off. Thanks for letting me vent. MadHuntinPastor
Re: \"Yes, dear\" TV show on Fox Seeing it would help me judge. Funny thing is that one of the writers/producers was a neighbor of mine. He was a few years older then me but we went to the same High School in Arlington VA. His name is Greg Garcia. You'll notice the main character is Greg and they are Washington Redskin fans. I finally realized this one day when there was a flashback of Greg's wife in highschool and she had my highschool's cheerleading outfit on!! It was pretty crazy to see that on TV. Sorry I don't know his stance on hunting, but I thought this would kinda be interesting to anyone who watches the show.
HuntingInMaine
Re: \"Yes, dear\" TV show on Fox I have seen the episode that you are talking about. I thought it was pretty funny myself, but do understand your concerns with the way a hunter is portrayed. I am not too upset about it because they didn't make a huge issue about hunting, and in fact the wife was pretty proud of herself when she heard she had killed the offending squirrell. It wasn't a really positive message, but not as bad as it could have been.
Guest Finn
Re: \"Yes, dear\" TV show on Fox I saw that last night and feel the same as HuntinginMaine. It certainly was not an anti-hunting show. Sure, the beer and overweight hunter could have been done better, but they didn't slam the guy when he shot the squirrel. wtnhunt
Re: \"Yes, dear\" TV show on Fox Also saw that episode back when the show was on NBC. Thought it was kind of funny myself.
Grant-KS
Re: \"Yes, dear\" TV show on Fox I, as well thought it quite funny, but this is coming from a hunter who knows exactly what they're talking about. Not everyone does.
