Anyone interested in a Africa Hunting Trip?

Recommended Posts

I'm planning on going to Namibia in Africa in either 2011 or 2012 and I'm looking for a few people to go along for the trip. Namibia is mostly known for the plains game there. You can figure on a total trip cost of anywhere from 6-12k and that includes airfare, shipping animals home and taxidermy. You figure about 2000 for the flight. Trophy fees of about 400-800 per animal depending on which one. Then you figure daily fees of 100-300 bucks. Also figure about 5000 for shipping animals home and taxidermy work as well. If interested either reply here or PM me. I'm not looking for solid committments right now, but just people who are interested. The trip will most likely be in August and you can plan for beinggone for 14 days. About 10 of that will be hunting. I will strictly be bowhunting over there. My personal hit list includes:

KUDU

Gims Buck

Baboon

Warthog

Eland

Zebra or Impala

anything else that trips my fancy!

Let me know what you guys think. I'm not making any money on doing this, but I would like to take a group of people that I somewhat know. The reason for such long notice is because a trip like this needs to be planned way ahead so the money can be saved. You never know if enough people are interested it could be the first Realtree get together in Africa!

My forum friends from www.huntingresource.com went to Africa last yr in Aug and had a great time. They ddint spend a lot and got a lot of game, some with sticks and some with rifles. They are gonna go again in 2010 August I think. You could check with them. My wife says I need to go but I have NOOOO interest in anything farther than AK or Swedish Lappland. Good luck on your hunt.

Don't forget you also need the following:

Travel Insurance

Malaria Prophlaxis (like Malarone or Larium)

Doxycycline (in case of tick bite fever)

Plus a host of vaccinations that can't all be done at the last minute.

Hepatitis A and Hepatitis B Vaccinations (takes a year for the full series)

Up to date Tetanus vaccination

Yellow Fever vaccination (some but not all locations in Africa)

As Silvertip pointed out yes you can go for less. The HR guys are friends of mine as well. A group blocking out tickets on an airline with a travel agent will save everyone some money as well.

Man if you guys are finding less on the animals and daily fees let me know for sure. The outfitter I will be using is the one who my booking agency uses and has had tremendous success with. The flights and taxidermy might vary, but I would rather error on the high side than the low side because being 2 grand high is a heck of a lot better than being 2 grand low...

Send me a PM of those people that are going next year because I would definitely like to get in touch with them....
