bullseye13
So i am a 13 year old male and i am thinking about selling my Diamond Edge bow to my younger brother. I pull 40 -45lb and then would need a new bow. Any suggestions? And remember im not spending a fortune. Thx in advance.
johnf
I'm 40 years old and that's what I shoot. I get great results with it so far. I've had some injuries and can't pull back a lot (for my age;)) and the edge was a good compromise. I've been shooting for about 5 week and am getting good groups out to 40 yards and occasionally shoot out to 50. I don't think shooting a deer that far would be advisable with this bow, but it sure points out your mistakes a lot more when your out there. The bow is very quiet, let off is very good and it does shoot very accurately. I would upgrade the sight that comes on it, but I do like the rest. Remember if you use a dloop, and you probably should, you'll lose about 1/2" in draw length. I'm shooting right at 43lbs with mine and 27" and I'm getting right at 240 fps. I think you'll be happy with it. If you've got the cash I would get the new Razor's edge so you can go up to 60lbs when you get strong enough. BTW: Welcome to the forum. There is a youth room here you may want to check out. I've not been in there, but I'm old. You may want to. wtnhunt
Welcome to the forums. There are quite a few options in youth bows on the market. Best advice I can really give you is to get someone to take you to a shop and let you shoot as many different bows as you can. See which one feels the best to you. Illinois59
The force is strong within you young Jedi. Go to your local shop and shoot some different bows and see what YOU like. Only then will you know how the force flows through you. Good luck and have fun.
johnf
Just noticed that you've already got the Edge, sorry I missed that. I've read in several places that a low poundage bow cranked up to it's max is actually more efficient than a heavier pulling bow. If your shooting 40-45lbs on your Edge, why not just crank it up to 50 and see how you do? If your just wanting a bigger bow then go for it, but if you think you've outgrown that one, think again. You may want to spend that money on something you need rather than something you want.

bullseye13
ok the reason i want to sell my Edge is because i have the 30-40 lb limbs on it but there to light so i was going to sell it instead of buying new limbs. and my brother pulls 30lb so it would save him money and i would only lose about 30-40 dollers (depending on the bow i buy) So has any1 heard anything about the Truth 2?? thx. I hear you on not wanting to get new limbs I'd just go ahead and get another bow even tho your looking at probly only around 100 dollars for limbs. Anyway the Truth 2 great bow. They shoot fast and there quiet I don't care what anyone says down at the shop I've never heard anyone complain about them being to loud and crap. It'd be a great add on for bow season. The bigger limbs go to 50lbs. Right now I've got the 30-40lb limbs on mine and am shooting 43lbs. You may be able to get 55lbs out of them with the bigger limbs. I'm planning on doing it this summer. fly
I just looked at the Truth 2 today. I take it you are refering to the young gun model? Cabelas has a package deal for 399.00 which to me seems like a great deal. With adjustable draw lengths 14"-27" you'll get plenty of years out it and it adjusts from 40-50 lbs. I'd say it be about as good as you'll get for a youth bow. I've been shooting Bear bows since I was 16. Bear makes great bows at a reasonable price.
