BowJoe
Sources from ESPN are saying that Mayfield tested positive for Meth. Now this could lead to many conclusions because of all the ingredients in Meth. Some over the counter drugs can trigger a Meth test to be positive. Who knows. Last time I checked, none of the standard drug tests can confirm specifically if it was meth. A standard test only confirms things such as THC, Barbituates and classifications like that. At least that's what I understood from working at the hospital.
VABuckSlayer
I'm not totally caught up on illegal drugs but can't they make meth from Sudifed (sp?)? I thought that was why it was put behind the counter in drug stores. Seems like a possibility Mayfield could be telling the truth. I hope so because I like the guy and would hate to see his career end from a bad drug test!
The_Kat
Mayfield is innocent and nascar is making a big boo boo here. He passed all the other drug tests except for the one they gave him. Any mixture of prescription drugs can pop a hot drug test. I took Amoxocillin my senior year and popped hot. I denied using drugs and was given a chance to take a blood test and guess what, I passed. When I worked Loss Prevention at a retail store the local PD gave us a list of things to watch for people buying mass quantities of. Seemed like most ingredients were readily available anywhere. I think Mayfield is innocent as well...I dont think Meth is something you do recreationally, it pretty much takes over your life. Having dealt face to face with some meth-head shoplifters...its easy to tell that they are into something they shouldnt be.
The_Kat
actually bud, you'd be VERY suprised of the number of meth users you have absolutely no clue about. I'm talking doctors, lawyers, judges, cops, teachers, it's everywhere. Meth doesn't show til about 2 years in, and then theres no mistaking it.
