Jeramie
Over the 4th of July we are headed to Beaver Lake, AR! Im taking the pontoon and doing some serious fishing too! Im setting limb lines and fishing during the day. Ive never fished for stipers it will be my first round. Im stoked. Hopefully I can figure out how to catch them before I get there. Anyone have any tips for Stripers in about 30' of water?
hutchies
Shad my friend........During the day we use shad on a circle hook with 2 to 3 foot leader, barrel swivel, and half ounce weight above that.........We catch tons of them down here underneath the bridge at night. We take drop lights and put in the water that hook to a standard 12 volt battery. Most times we just hook a shad on and put 3 pinch weights about 2 foot up the line to keep it from swimming too far. Minnows will work too but not as well. Most of Striper fishing is using the depth finder to locate the schools of fish and what depth they are at. Trolling with divers and 3 or 4 inch sassy shad also works well. #1 tip.................make sure you use a good quality rod and reel. They will tear cheap reels up. We used planer boards and shad and ran them at diffrent depths. Good luck and have fun!!!!
