texastrophies
I was off work yesterday, on vacation. Which was probably bad, as I might have been able to stop this. We only have 5 people at our office right now, including me, which consist of 3 office trailers placed side by side. We have one entrance to our fenced in yard which is on the south side of the trailers and the driveway is on the west side. Yesterday morning, between 9:30 and 10:45 someone came into the yard and stole on of my guys pickup truck. Now granted he had left it unlocked and had the keys in the ashtray, but still, we have a yard man that is almost always walking around and then we are walking between trailers quite regularly and someone has the "courage" to come in, when there is only one way in and one way out, find a vehicle, locate the keys, started and leave. When the police showed up and took down the info, they told the guy if they did not find it in the first hour, he can forget about it. The officer said that her sister had a truck stolen a couple of weeks ago, and she saw them drive off in it when coming out of the movie theater, it was later found stripped in Laredo. Back to my original statement about me being here, the reason I said that is because my window looks out over the parking area, and I would like to think I would have noticed someone walking around that didn't belong there. Oh well, at least he was insured, but he will still take a hit on all of the items he lost in it, and there were quite a few.

Hoosierbuck
Ummm, yeah. That is a bummer. I lock everything, all the time. Of course with my job, I am constantly reminded of all the pukes around even in a nice little town. HB
Adjam5
I agree nowhere is immune to the misdeeds of criminals. Sorry to hear it. What is Texas law if he was caught in the act?

texastrophies
What is Texas law if he was caught in the act? Depends on who's truck it is and who catches him.!!!!!!!!!! Honestly, I am not sure what it is.

OJR
First off, if he left it unlocked and the keys in the ash tray, he deserves it! That is plain stupid! Lock your vehicles and take the keys with you! Pretty simple isn't it?
wtnhunt
Pretty bold thief. We lock stuff anytime we are in town. Don't lock vehicles at home, but I do not leave keys in anything either, not even in the tractors or 4 wheeler. Hope everything goes well with your coworker dealing with his insurance, imagine on top of his losses his rates will increase too.
