Moultrie D40 Vs. Cuddeback Capture

My number 1 concern with any camera is the trigger speed. Just irks me to have a bunch of blank pictures when something triggers my trail camera.

From what I see the Cuddeback wins that hands down. Cuddeback's 1/3 of a second trigger speed gets the job done (strutinhoyt's last pic proves that) while Moultrie's trigger speed is over 2.5 seconds according to test run by Trailcampro. 2.5 seconds is plenty of time for a walking deer to get completely out of the picture. Moultrie wins on battery life though.

Boils down to what's more important to you. Getting pictures of deer or other animals virtually every time your camera is tripped or a tail cam that can run for up to 3 months on a set a batteries.

I have not owned a D40, however I had an 08 model I40 which was not worth its dollar. Great pics but the trigger was very slow, you would have to face it down a trail to where the deer are coming from to avoid pics of a deer's hindquarters. I sold it and purchased a Scoutguard SG550 and now own 2.

Also, the Capture is quite a bit more then the D40 and in that price range Id be looking into the Scoutguard. Highly recommended, check out the chasingame.com review on it.
