benelli nova vs. super nova?

Recommended Posts

The Nova is chambered for 3" shells while the Super Nova is chambered for 3.5". The Super Nova also comes with the Comfert Tech stock which is meant to aid in recoil reduction. I have also noticed that the forend on the Nova isn't as secure as the Super Nova and has a little bit of play in it from side to side. Otherwise they are both great guns.

Both can shoot up to 3-1/2" mag loads. The Supernova has a slightly different receiver design but the action for the most part is the same I believe. The Supernova is a little tighter/less slop at the forend. The main difference is the ergonomics of the Supernova are better. It can come with the Comfortech stock or pistol grip stock. The trigger guard is bigger and redesigned in case it's cold and you're heavy gloves. I think it just handles a little better. Function is the same but if you want fit and function then you'd go with the Supernova. I got the Supernova and I'm very happy with it. I have been told it's lighter and cheaper than a heavier (more solid feeling?) Rem 870, but honestly I've heard stories of these guns being used and abused while still whacking and stacking lots of game. I'll take the technology of a light weight yet strong gun on a hike any day.
