Its a purina mix 21% we have at the Local Feed store. I can keep the hogs out but I can't do anything with the Coons.

JackedUpZ71
I thought my deer were bad because I have to feed them 100lbs a week, but 300 is insane. I would be broke lol.
sskybnd
we have 2 that hold 300lbs but they have a limit on how much it will put out at a time, max is only 3.5 lbs at a time and it feeds twice a day or 7 lbs a day but still that last us 42 days till we need to fill it again, we fill it up with corn and roasted soybeans, our corn cost us $7.50 a bag or $45.00 for the 300lbs, me too id go broke if i had to pay to fill them up once a week.. Texan_Til_I_Die
To keep the coons out, go to the hardware store and buy some of those tack strips that carpet layers use. Attach the tack strips to the feeder legs and it will keep the coons from climbing up the legs. FYI - The biologist that I work with recommends feeding 16% - 18% protein. That's about all the deer can process, so anything more than that is just a waste of money. BTW - How are you keeping the hogs out?
12-point
i couldnt image feeding that much thats where my salary would go

Aight first off, I tried the tack strips and these coons seem to use them for added traction LOL! Second our biologist somewhat agrees but its either 16 or 21% here and he said we should go with the 21 Last we have some pens around the feeders, Hog and or cattle panels work well. samuelc
Thanks for the tip on the 16% - 18% protein mix. That should help us all get a bit more bang for our buck.:clown:
