12-point
Some ask whats the best gun for your buck. I like a good bolt action remington 270 but I have the Thompson Center Encore 50 cal muzzle loader and 7mm_08 just because its light weight, very reliable, comfortable, and over-all a great shooter. You can order any barrel you want for turkey, deer, moose, bear, or target shooting. Stocks and forends are available for camo, black synthetic, and wood grain of your choice. Its a lil costly but for a serious hunter you cant beat it. What do you all like and what do you think about the encore..
wtnhunt
No first hand experience with the encore, but been pretty happy with my TC black diamond. Prefer bolt guns for deer. Model 700 in 270 has been my goto rifle for deer here for several years, but lots of other good bolt guns out there.

Strut10
Only Encore rifle I ever shot was Pudd's .416 Rigby. No complaints about the gun at all. It's just not my cup of tea. Can't see ever owning one. But, like I said, seemed to be a good gun. As for the best gun for my buck................guess it depends what I want the gun to be and what I am going to ask it to do. jared264mag
I say it depends what part of the world your hunting in. We have quite a few hunters using the 25-06 or 7mm-08. My dad and I both use a .264 Win Mag Another good one is the 7mm Mag or a .280 I have one of them as well. I like the .300 Rem Ultra Short Mag. but I guess what it all comes down to is what ya like and what ya wanna be shooting. Thats why I got so many LOL
jared264mag
I have shot a three different Encore's a .280 .204 Ruger and a 25-06 the first two where Pro Hunters and I liked them a lot.
doubleA
The earlier T/C Contender and now the Encore line is a great concept. They do have their niche in the firearms/hunting world. TC has to have the best marketing program in the firearms industry, after all 98% of the TV hunting shows are pushing them. My way of thinking is that for people that are going to limit their inventory, say a ML,deer rifle and turkey gun it's a great choice. As far as I am concerned I'll go with indivdual firearms and really taylor them to my liking and needs. Just a thought.....With the advent of the cheap Marlins, Savage/Stevens, Remington, Weatherby's and the like you can get a complete rifle/shotgun for $0-$100 more than a single Encore barrel. Your milage will vary :flex:...............
DocMort
Love the Encore, we have 4 of them, everything from 50 cal ML, to 30 win mag and down can't beat it
Orion_70
I grabbed an encore pro hunter last year in .270 and it's definitely a shooter. I would like to get a ML 209x50 barrel for it and maybe a slug barrel. If I get a really good deal on the barrels, might add some other calibers. but like was said before, I can get a new rifle for not much more than what the barrels are costing now and I love my Remington 700's
