NS whitetail
I have a Remington 870 Express Magnum, it's been sitting on the gunrack for about 1 1/2 years since the last time I used it duck hunting. I picked it up this morning to shoot some crows that have been driving me crazy and it don't work :48: Rack a shell in it and there is nothing there on the trigger, the firing pin isn't working I guess. It worked fine the last time that I used it, what would go wrong with it just sitting there ? It has been cleaned and oiled well.
fly
Not sure what you mean by; "there is nothing there on the trigger". Look at your shells and see if there is any type of indention on the primer after pulling the trigger. If there is then the firing pin isn't getting enough force to ignite the primer. This is most likely from fouling in the bolt. Stick a pipe cleaner in the firing pin hole (in the bolt) and see if that's it. You may want to run some oil on the firing pin as well. I know you said it was cleaned, but a lot of people forget that step and 870's are known for what I just explained. Cost me a deer one year. NS whitetail
Not sure what you mean by; "there is nothing there on the trigger". no pressure at all on the trigger, not even a click. That's what I am thinking that the firing pin must be seized up, I'll give her a good cleaning later and try what you said. thanks.

Strut10
Chances are your gun oil shellaced on you. I've seen RemOil gum up onmore than one occasion. I don't use the stuff any more. I use Outers gun oil on exposed metal, permatex Super Lube on hinge pins and either Lucas or FP-10 synthetic on anything that moves.
