redkneck
Sampled my first batch from the "Mr. Beer" kit i ordered. Southwest Pale Ale. I got to say I was impressed. Good full flavor, lots of body, not too sweet. Could have used more head, but for a first attempt I'd say it turned out great. I may brew up a couple more kits, but would like to make a batch soon from raw ingredients. Better brew than you'll get out of the store around here anyway!
camoman1
Feel free to share...:drink: I always wanted to try to make a beer or two. Luckily we have a good number of local micro breweries here so there are alot of good beers if you go to the right store.

MCH
Congrats on your first brew! As to making a batch soon using raw ingredients, I'd hold off on that. All-grain brewing is a whole different monster. Extract brewing is basically what you're doing with a Mr. Beer kit and you can step up to full 5 gallon batches fairly easily. You will have to shell out a couple of hundred dollars for equipment, but the process won't be that much different. An all-grain set up can run into the 4 figures and takes a lot of studying. I've brewed quite a few batches and am slowly moving to all grain, but I'm still a year or so away. Did get a refridgerator today so I can keep my kegs and CO2 tanks cold!! :D BTW--I've got some pics of my last batch in my 6.5 gallon carboy. May post them later this week....I'll shoot you a PM if I do.

redkneck
Congrats on your first brew! An all-grain set up can run into the 4 figures and takes a lot of studying My two worst fears, spending lots of money and reading! I'd love to see your pics! Also, I think a 5-6 gallon set-up would be more practical, my little batch yielded 20 bottles, just not quite enough to share with friends (EVERYONE wants a sample, lol)

hungry hunter
Have a party and while we are soaking up your suds that is when Home depot makes the delivary and you act suprised and start passing out the hammers, nails, ect you won't have anything to do but scout for deer season. gzilla45
I tried making beer once and it didn't turn out too good. Thank God Leinenkugel's makes such great beer so that I don't have to keep trying.
birdhunter39
can you make some non-alcohol beer for me ???
redkneck
I wouldn't know where to start! To say that i'm a novice is an understatement. Beer kits are abundant on the net, and i'm sure you can find something to your liking in the no alcohol variety. Mr. beer also offers root beer kits. birdhunter39
i almost quit drinking one might say , usually if we have a can of beer ( 12 oz) it's split 3 ways , a 6 pack will last all year just about . if i get pumped up for a can ( 12 oz ) that will be the only beer i will drink for the year . MCH
I'm not a fan of getting drunk, but I love a good beer with my supper or just before bedtime or when some buddies are over or when I'm playing some poker or when...:D Honestly? A keg of beer(5 gallons or 2 cases) will last me a month unless my friends come over several times. What homebrewing has done, is open my eyes to the different tastes in beer. There's nothing better than a steak and a Sam Adams in my book.
