Never buying another Scentblocker Product Again!

Recommended Posts

The title says it all. Last year before my trip to Texas I picked up a brand new pair of Scentblocker Dream Season Boots on clearance for $99. I thought I got one heck of a deal. Little did I know they wouldn't last. They got me into and through deer season, with a little moisture getting in. Then turkey season came around and they were shot. Every puddle, every creek I crossed, any type of water I stepped in, would get in the boots. I don't know what happened to them. They were supposed to be waterproof? So then yesterday after cleaning around the house and putting away my turkey stuff, I found my boots. So I decided to call up Scentblocker and explain my problem and see what they would do about it.

I was given a blatant NO. We can't do anything. You have to go back to the retailer you bought them at and they have to warranty it. I bought these boots at Dick's Sporting Goods, a solid 1/2 hour ride from my house. So after having a few choice words with this woman, I dug up the receipt and called Dick's to explain my problem and see if I could exchange them. I spoke to a woman in Footwear and she said to come in and the exchange would be ok. So I get up there, get the boots, head over to the exchange register and I was told NO. You can't exchange this because the transaction is over 90 days old. I tell her to get her manager. Her manager comes down and says the same exact thing. So I tell the manager that I wanted to speak to her boss. Her boss comes down and after I have a few select words with all 3 of them, he says I could do the exchange. I ended up having to pay a $20 + $10 (tax) difference in the price of the boots. So I finally got the 2009 Scentblocker Dream Season Boots.

I was extremely angry after going through all of that with Scentblocker and Dick's. I told Dick's about how the manufacturer wasn't backing it's product and how I was extremely dissatisfied with the level of customer service I was receiving from both them and a brand they carried.

But honestly, I'm never going to buy a Scentblocker product again. They have horrible customer service and I'm disgusted with them.

That is too bad Joe the original pair was defective and that you had to pay a difference Joe, I almost bought a pair of scent blocker boots at one time. Hope the new pair works out better for you.

I feel the same way about rocky boots, will never buy anything with their name on it ever again.

Personally due to the obvious ractivation problems with Scentblocker boots or any of those type of boots I've never felt the need to buy any. I understand the boot dryer method of reactivation too. Chances are the boots are made by someone else like Rocky for Scentblocker.

Anyway if scent is an issue, rubber boots work fine for me.

I'm with William on Rocky boots too. The soles just disintegrated on my last pair. Never had a pair of Rocky boots that held up as long as any of my LaCrosse boots either.

That really sucks Joe! Personally I don't buy anything "waterproof", unless they're Gore Tex, I find "waterproof" stuff just doesn't cut it, it has to be Gore Tex. I've had really good luck with Rocky boots, I have two pairs of them and both are still in great condition. I wear them in the heat of the summer to -30 in the winter ice fishing, never had a problem with either pair!

I have to agree.. I've got a pair of Rocky's that are probably older than Joe.. They'll see their 19th hunting season this year and still going strong. They're a little worn on the soles now, but still warm and waterproof..I should send them in and see if I can get a new pair out of them:yes::yes:

As encouraged..

Stay away from Rocky boots!

I love my rubber Alpha Burley's, but they are no good when the weather gets cold. In addition I had a 1.5 year old deer smell the boot marks where I walked in while wearing them last season. Nothing is scent proof.

Best deer hunting/turkey hunting boots I've ever owned pictured below. Going on my 3rd season and still waterproof. Cabela's snake boots.

I bought a pair of Alpha Burleys in the fall of 2005. Ive worn them through 4 bowseasons, 4 rifle seasons, 2 or 3 turkey seasons and 4 pairs of ice fishing seasons. They are getting tired but I know Ive worn them on at least 150 trips out over those 14 seasons worth of use, and probly more like 200 or more. I will be buying another pair for this year!

That sux Joe. I've had very good luck with my LaCrosse. Had to toss a pair of Bogs last year after the second season when the sole peeled off. I'm going to pick up some Mucks this year. Boots sure dont last forever but I sure as heck want more than one season out of them. I dont care to buy scent blocking clothing, and I sure dont think that would work good in boots. When I was younger i had a pair of Sorel boots. I dont know if they even make them anymore, but they hardly even leaked a drop after 14 years, and finally I threw them away to make room for junk in the closet, and they had gotten pretty ragged. Man I considered playing taps and burying them in the back yard. :(

I have been wearing Rocky boots at work for the last 20 years. They are good for awhile, but the soles seem to wear out prematurely. I have to replace them every two years, but they take alot of abuse at work...as I wear em' year round.
