Are You A Loner?

Always used to hunt alone when in High School and just out. Then my brother got more into bowhunting instead of duck hunting. Now it is usually the two of us, but I normally am limited to the weekends. He gets to hunt after work everyday. The deer are pretty smart by the time the rut rolls around with that kind of pressure. :hammer2:

I usually go at it alone unless I'm hunting in La. Then I've got my cousins that usually go with me. We'll see how the new lease in Fl. pans out, might find some good people to hunt with. It's always good to get another perspective and you never know what you may learn from someone else..

I enjoy sharing time in the wild with others. I like to show them the things I see. Being a sport of close encounters bowhunting is an escape for me.

With so much that can go wrong I don't like to introduce another element to the equation. Bowhuntings success' and failures keeps me in touch with reality of the hunt.

95% of the time I bow hunt alone.

I take my kids sometimes and I have been bow hunting with a friend a couple times on his property last season.

As my kids get older I imagine I'll be taking them more, but I have a couple more years yet.

I hunt by myself 99% of the time. Maybe once during a typical season will my daughter come up for day or two of bow hunting. Archery season for me is a time for chasing the mighty wapiti, with only a day or two actually hunting deer. It is hard to find someone willing to put in the miles and climb the mountains the way I do. I have often wished I had someone else there to experience the encounters I have had with the various critters that roam the country I hunt, or to even see the scenery of the area. While pictures tell a thousand words, there is no substitute for being "there".

I was always a loner.............wasn't interested in having anyone else in my zip code. That's why I bought the property I did. Started hunting with a guy here or a guy there. Took a few years to figure out that was a bad move. Going to start hunting with my favorite person again, this year.......me !!! :D

Now that I'm retired, I spend all my hunting time alone. It seems that all the people that I used to hunt with have dropped out, moved away or died. Yes, I did enjoy having hunting partners. We never made a "gang thing" out of it, and seldom did I ever actually hunt with anymore than one other person. The boys have grown up and are off hunting in other parts of the country. It's funny, now that I have reached the age where I probably shouldn't be wandering around the hills alone, there simply is no one left to hunt with.
