redkneck
kinda neat thread. I am truly blessed to have a 1500 acre tract to hunt with about 5 other guys and I really enjoy their company, but right now there's only 1 other that bowhunts, and although i've tried to persuade one or two they should get back into the sport, i sure dont mind the days when i have it all to myself. I enjoy it all. My time alone as well as my time with the kids and friends. I like a good mix. My friend justin prob wishes i was alone more. I called him three times last year to come help drag deer while we were the only 2 there.
Straight Shooter
I bowhunted by myself for years and hated every minute of it for the shear fact of no one to share my day and adventures with. I've hunted the last 8 years with buddies and my brother, it's so fun to get back to camp and hear all the tales from the day or see kills. High Country
Sometimes I hunt alone, usually in the early bow season. However, I greatly prefer to hunt with my family (my father, brother, wife and son). The most memorable hunts I have had was when I killed my first deer (my wife was with me), my wife's first deer, and a wide racked 6 point (my father and I watched a doe in heat prance around a field for four hours waiting on the buck) I killed several years ago. Nickel
I PREFER TO HUNT ALONE. UNLESS IT IS WITH MY DAD. WE EACH KNOW HOW LONG THE OTHER WILL LAST IN THE STAND. I HATE HAVING A TIME LIMIT WHEN HUNTING, TO ME HUNTING IS PART OF MY RELAXATION TIME AND I DONT WANT TO BE WATCHING THE TIME TO HAVE TO MEET A BUDDY THAT CAN ONLY SIT IN THE STAND FOR A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF TIME.:laser:
NS whitetail
I'm a loner............ but during rifle season -- it's a family thing at camp ( dad, brother's and some friends )
Squirrelhunter91
I'm a loner as well. Occasionally I may end up hunting with my dad once or twice a season but not really until rifle season do we share a piece of land together with stick and string. I prefer hunting alone though to be honest. Only one persons scent, one person making noise, anything that goes wrong I can blame 100% on myself and not on someone else. Plus on the flip side, anything that goes right I can blame myself for that too. But that all may change this year because I will be filming with a buddy of mine for Honey Creek Outdoors. swohiodave
Most of last season i hunted alone. I like to have my space in the woods but i enjoy having the guys out with me. I can hunt by friends but i prefer not to be too close to people i do not know.... makes it hard when 2 people would shoot at a deer. buckee
I'm kind of a loner when it comes to hunting. I don't mind going hunting with friends, but stay away from me while the hunt is on.....and don't walk out of the bush past me. right at last light and ruin the last few minutes of legal shooting time...eh. Unless of course you've nailed one and need me to help you find it.
Tom2008
I've been a loner since I started Archery at the age of 14. During the fall of 2008 I wasn't a loner anymore. My lovely girlfriend decided to start bow hunting along my side and I was able to witness her first deer with a bow. Memories I'll never forget. Doc
This has been a super thread with a lot of surprising replies. I never realized how independant bowhunters are. I wonder if this is why it's so hard to get bowhunters organized? Doc
skooba
I like to hunt by myself but i think if there is a known giant in the area, I like to involve other people on my land so the neighbors have a less likely chance of getting it. As far as gun season i like to hunt with family and friends.
Rhino
Am I a loner? Well yes and no. When you're part of a hunting club with 23 members of which about 8 are bowhunters it's hard to really be a loner. I do try to hunt where access is hardest and where other hunters tend not to consider hunting. My closest bowhunting buddies share the same attitude of letting each other go do our own things in different areas on our club and we don't invade each others areas. Can't do that when all the iron men show up. There's usually someone around at our camp on weekends but there are times when I can get away during the week and have it all to myself. On out of state hunts I've done it both ways. It doesn't bother me a bit to hit the road and hunt on my own. I enjoy it. I have a few good friends that just don't understand how I can do that. They will only go on the road if either I go with them or they can find someone else to go with. The beauty of hunting on the road by myself is it's just me, the total hunting experience, and God. When you think about it that way, you're never really alone.

Tecumseh
I prefer to bowhunt by myself come gun season a few people show up and it turns into a good time.I usually turn into too much of a baby sitter if other people come bowhunting and don't get to hunt much. backwoods07
95% of the time I'm hunting with a partner. The only time I hunt alone is when he decides he wants to sleep in!
slughunter
Its usually just me and my grandpa, which is fine with me because we are always on the same page and it makes for some good hunting. -shane
