Dawg
For all you long distance hot shots!! You're in Colorado on a one week hunt. It's down to the next to last day, the last bit of light is slipping fast, you haven't filled a tag, this bruiser steps out at 51.5 yards, you haven't seen a buck of this caliber all week, would you let him walk hoping to see him the next day or would you take the shot? Tominator
Now that one is tough. Geez. 51 yards. OK, if I'm out hunting mulies, I'm going to assume I've practiced out to 60 yards, but, 51 yards, slight quarter to. Sadly, I think I pass on that deer. The_Kat
Let her rip tater chip! 2nd green on top. 50 is about as far as I wanna shoot though.
tedicast
Normally I pass this shot, on distance...the angle is doable for me, barely. If I'm in Colorado, and I'm hunting Muley, I'm gonna be well practiced out to 50 yards. My 50 pin is gonna be in the area of the green dots, 2nd, and 3rd from the top. Really gonna hate myself if I make a bad shot.
hutchies
No guts no glory...............If I'm going to colorado I'm gonna be shooting a 7 pin sight that I can practice out to 80 so I should be good to 50 all day long. When he looks away I'm launching a pumpstation seeking missile tipped with a buzzcut right between 2 green and 2 yellow. BBD................. sskybnd
2nd green would be the shot, but at 51 yards i think i would have to let him pass, thats a fairly long shot and to try to slip threw that shoulder bone might not get much penatration, hopefuly i could catch up to him tomorrow. buckee
He's walking, but I'll always be wondering ... Dang
ruttinbuc
Looking my way at that distance, with my boom bow maybe.
camoman1
I passed a big whitetail 2 years back..I figured he was at about 50yds...I paced it off at 51 when I climbed down. Im gonna have to let this dude go too. Until I practice more at long shots anyways.
struttinhoyt
I'd take the shot... But with him being that alert looking at me I'm gonna be shootin a touch low...
snapper
No bow fast enough to make that shot with him looking at you and 51 yards aways...he'll more than likely flinch, duck/jump the string...best case, you wound him and get lucky to hit something vital....No shot for me! elkoholic
Second yellow dot from top.
ILAntlrAddct
Second last day, in Colorado for a one week elk hunt wow, tough one but think id have to pass. 51yds is getting out there and too much time he can react, He deserves a better shot. redkneck
Right between yel 3 and green 3. I aint going to CO without being good at 50. The shoulder scares me, I dont know squat about muley anatomy, but that boy looks like a bruiser and I bet there's a LOT of bone in that shoulder. Straight Shooter
I'd let it walk, I don't hunt Mule deer. Ha Ha Well, if I did hunt them it would have to be an arrow through the 2nd green from the top.
Illinois59
This one is easy. My arrow would fly about a foot over his head right between those antlers! But seriously, I would aim for the top green, I ain't gonna miss that guy low.
Ravin R10 man
bow..first reaction was pass... rifle, he's got my tag on him, staying in front of the yellow 2or
Tom2008
Right between 2nd from top yellow and green. Dead meat.
NS whitetail
I'm not that comfortable with a long shot like that............ let him walk.
Zambo
Wow tough choice. I want that buck. It's a long shot with him looking in. I would probably let him walk. However it's easy to say from my living room.
Arkansas Boy
I'd wonder what the heck I was doing in Colorado hunting these prancing funny loooking deer. Then I'd let him walk
dbHunterNY
Right in the middle between the middle two green dots and the middle two yellow dots. I'm assuming the 51.1 yards wasn't a guess and I have a 50 yard pin, so unless the wind is howling preventing me from holding well, I've got no worries. Then again my pumpstation would be crankin' too with something that big. Edited June 29, 2009 by dbHunterNY
Dakota
I'd have to say I'm going for the bullseye between the 2nd green and 2nd yellow from the top. Dakota
Rhino
I've bowhunted mulie's before spot and stalk style in Wyoming. Before going on that trip I practiced a lot at well over 50 yards and felt very comfortable shooting at 50 yards. By practicing beyond 50 yards, 50 yards shots seemed easy by the time I left for that bowhunt. When I arrived I practiced shooting out beyond 50 yards to make sure I was still on. I was. It shouldn't matter if it's the first day or last day on this hunt. If the shot is within your comfort zone, take it. If it's not don't. I was faced with a very similar shot on the 4th day of my 7 day mulie bowhunt. That buck is now on my wall. My 50 yard pin would be just above the spot between 2 green & 2 yellow.
