RTF
Re: Ethical Question It not a question of being wrong, but if you shot his two birds you would have been breaking the law. This question has nothing to do with ethics. It's about responsible hunter accountability while afield. You thought about and made the right decision. clayman
Re: Ethical Question Along those lines... what do the laws in your area say about "party-hunting" (the act of hunting to fill all the tags in your hunting party)? Many states say that "Party-hunting" is not allowed. You fill your own limit and then you're supposed to quit shooting. We often see on the video tapes, and the hunting shows, a group of guys in a duck blind banging away until they've shot a complete limit. Same thing when watching footage of goose hunting. Four guys shooting until they've killed four limits. What you don't know is that one guy shot fifteen birds and the other only shot 5 even though the limit is 10 a piece. What happens when the game warden comes up and sees an aggregate pile of birds and then asks who shot which birds?
WaCoyote
Re: Ethical Question Whats weird is that he wanted you to shoot his birds. I guess to each his own, but I shoot my own. I can't stand people shooting my game. especially waterfowl. I hate plucking those buggers! When my dad started getting older he used to always give me his and I finally had to ask him why he needs to shoot them if he doesn't want them. I don't really even like waterfowl but liked hunting with the old man. Oops I've rambled. You did the right thing! Hey! Since we don't have wood ducks here, and they are so gorgeous. Would you shoot a couple for me? Oops, there I go again.

mathews4life
Re: Ethical Question Thats a good question. I'll be honest . I've been on some big time duck hunts in arkansas and there is 6 or 7 ppl shootin out of a blind at the same ducks coming in. Its impossible to tell exactly who shoots what bird so in a situation like that i dont c the problem as long as u stop at the legal bag limit.
