Adjam5
Hey electricity is no joke. Take yer work seriously. Even if Pop is a professional electrician, kill the power if you can. No reason in the world to work live. Check your local codes and make sure you do NOT skimp on the grounding. MUCHO IMPORTANTE. Drive the ground rod as deep as you can and hook up the bldg ground to the street/pump side of the water main or well. Have you done this before? Any questions ask...Been doing it here in NYC for 24 years. Be careful and do not use a aluminum ladder...PLEASE!
The_Kat
Learn all you can with your dad Jeremy. No matter where you live at, and electrician is always a job thats in demand. As young as you are, you could get your journeyman license by the time your 21.

wtnhunt
Sounds like you have a good week of learning ahead of you Jeramie. Would take advantage of the opportunity to go with your dad as much as you can if I were you. Who knows, he may even pay you for helping him. Might be money you could put towards a new digital trail cam.

OK thats good to hear...I sure Pop knows his way around a panel. Just can never be too safe. As far as the weatherhead goes, using pipe or SE cable directly to the wall? Check the local codes, it may be different where I am.
redkneck
Yeah, like anth said, you gotta check you local codes. I dont care where you are it varies state to state, town to town, and varies from the power co. Some are ok with PVC, others want EMT/Rigid, etc...... Good skills to learn, but dont take safety for granted! I've been working on A/C's all week after i get home from work. Amazing how many of your buddies dont want to pay you for crap when your done, lol....
