hammerforged
My wife got me the new Canon T1i for our anniversary. It came with the 18-55mm IS Lense. I am thinking about adding another lense and am looking at the 28-135mm IS. Thoughts? I only have limited resources to spend on another lense so I want to get the most bang for my buck. Many Thanks in advance.
Leo
Unless you plan on lugging a tripod around everywhere the Image Stabilization (IS) feature is a must have on a big lense in my opinion. You can save money by getting the lense without IS but on a big lense it really shows it's value. Even pictures taken from a solid rest will improve. Especially on digital cameras it's wise to stick with like branded lenses. The camera is designed to work with those lenses. There are exceptional lenses made by third parties but it's harder to figure out what works and you may actually violate a warranty in some cases by using them. Shaun_300
I've got a Sony a200 with a 18-70mm lens, I wanted one for more zoom later on and got a 75-300mm Sony lens for it. It is excellent for long range shots. Like Leo said though, you need to have that camera still for the bigger zoom shots! Just to give you an idea on the zoom ranges: 18mm 70mm 135mm 300mm
