RTF
January 2009 ? If so give it until next January. If it was dropped off in 2008, I'd be calling. What was told to you when you dropped it off and did you leave a deposit ?
12-point
no deposit but he said it would be april before he started and then he said that he would have to freeze dry the head. But that means he sent the head off>
Tom2008
Give it time and be patient. He has a lot more work than just your bird. It could take a year.
RTF
No deposit ? What kind of taxidermist takes in work with no deposit ? It's only been 7 months. Give it another 3 to 4 if he is a full time taxidermist. FYI, you dont always get your head when doing a freeze dried. You just buy them and send yours in for credit. There is no waiting for a freeze dried head.
jesse8953
Getting 2 turkeys done this year.My taxidermist said it would be probably october if the heads come in.If not it would be march.Last year he didn't get the heads until late october.By then he is swamped with deer heads, then the turkeys don't get done till the following spring. He is a full time taxidermist and is the local favroite around here.He also takes a deposite, $100 for a deer head and I gave him $125 deposite for 1 turkey and $100 deposite for the other turkey. He is letting me make a payment plan.Once a month I give him at least $100 Edited July 2, 2009 by jesse8953

He sends the heads to Hazel Creek in Missouri. I put down 150 deposit and it will take about a year and 3 or 4 months to get it back. hunter336
So the norm is about a year. I have 2 birds at a local taxidermist right now. The first one I dropped off on March 9, 2007 and the second was on April 12, 2008. I put a 50% deposit down on each.

hunter336
I called him in March to update my phone number. He stated he had several birds to get out in April. Time to give him a call.
