The_Kat
Oh my stars.....Cash has been crying for food, but when we give him the boob or the bottle he sucks, spits it out and cries....that or he starts choking on it and cries. Then he wants it right back, and this process has went on for two hours. His poor lil tummy is rock hard. I know he has gas and thats the problem, but burping is only helping him for a few minutes. He is pooping like crazy too, but it's not the ruins. Frustration is watching your little boy cry cause he isn't feeling well and not being able to do anything about it. redkneck
Man i know where you're coming from. That over the counter stuff you put in the bottle helps a little. I remember the twins going through this phase to where when you'd lay them down they'd throw up everything! Clean 'em, dress them, feed them again, and throw up again....... The joys of parenthood. It'll get easier soon. Then he'll be mobile, and into EVERYTHING.

wtnhunt
Hope Cash is ok and it is nothing but gas Kyle. Our oldest had a lot of problems with colic beyond her first year of life, crying at night that would not stop. We had countless nights of no sleep and countless times we did everything you can imagine to try to get her to sleep and keep her asleep. Can remember going for rides and leaving her in the carseat and putting the carseat in her crib, seems the position of the carseat was easier on her. Had nights where we had her in the swing right next to the bed where we could wind it back up, she slept pretty good until it would stop, then time to wind it up again. It can really wear on you over time. If you have not tried them, might try mylecon drops(sp), they did not work for Christina, but hear they work well for some babies. The swing, thank God for them swings. Spent many a night on the couch with both swings going. I dont miss that part. Mylecon, that's what I couldnt remember..... they help a bit, but if it's colic/gas, you mostly just grin and bare it.
Tominator
We dealt with that in Matt. We thought it was colic. We figured we were due seeing as the other 3 never had a problem like that. Took him to the doctor for one of his regular checkups and we told the doc how finicky he was getting. He prescribed a medicine to take care of baby heartburn. 1/2 day later, whammo, new kid. You might want to take him to the doc and see if he has reflux.

Youre not the only one! Our first had Colic BAD... For the first several months the swing was the only way we could sleep. Live saver.... The gas drops dont work miracles but they do help loads. You probably better look into them if youre not using them already.
Guest TennesseeTurkey
Zantac, man Zantac, get it from the Dr and maybe a change in formula is called for... we had to change Mason's formula 3 or 4 times...
Doe-ee
It's most likely gas but a trip to the doc would be a good idea first. If it's gas there were a couple of things that we did that helped. We found that lying our daughter on her tummy across our knees or holding her (on her tummy again) with her forehead against the crook of our elbow really helped. When it came to us getting a break to have a shower or whatever, a drop or two of ovol did the trick. I tried gripe water but that didn't do a thing for her. The doctor suggested also, that when I nursed her, to bend her left knee to help the gas not to build up. I also remember being told that the baby can sense my frustration and make her even more fussy. That was the best advice I ever got. It may take you a while to find what works best for Cash, but you'll get there. That's why we call the first one a "guinea pig". Prayers and best of luck! struttinhoyt
Gas drops from wal mart... they seem to help some... hang in there bud he'll get the sequence figured out... try and do what ya can... just don't loose your mind... It seems bad that you can't do anything to help... and while he is still crying just stop and think about every other person that goes though it.... Ours has had colic since she was 3 weeks... she is about 3 months and still has from time to time.... If you think that its colic you may try onion water, or pepermint water and or taking him outside... But getting them out in the wind much has an effect on the stomach to so be careful... BowJoe
You might want to try a box fan for some white noise to help the little guy sleep. Once you get past the belly problem, it's the best thing to keep a baby from waking up all the time. We used it with both of our girls and it was a life saver. As far as the belly problem, you may not be able to keep him on the boob. You may have to switch to a formula with high iron like Similac. We had to switch with Kyleigh. She had the exact same problems you described. For one, she simply wasn't getting enough milk from mommy to fill her belly. Even though we milked my wife pretty regularly, Kyleigh just couldn't get enough but loved the taste. If that isn't an option, then tell your wife to watch what she eats. Things with onions, garlic or any kind of strong flavors will make the milk taste bad. Lasagna is a big no no. You just have to experiment a little and if it gets too bad, see the doc. You may even be able to call the local hospital and ask the nurses what to do. Develop a repoir with them and you'd be surprised at how many simple things will help. Also, in a few month, if he gets a fever, give him a little tylenol in his formula or milk, take an old 20 oz. soda bottle, wash it, fill it half way up with water, compress it slightly and freeze it. He will have something to gnaw on and the cold will help his gums. Works every time. Good luck buddy! It does get better.
