Dakota
That's no dog...looks too small to be a cougar...it's probably a bobcat...it has the "docked" tail of one... Hey, pelts are worth close to $275-$300. Just saying, if you're allowed to hunt or trap bobs I'd do it. Dakota

Dakota The last fur sale around here last season You would have been lucky to get $75 for a nice bobcat pelt. Fur prices have went straight down with the economy. It's sad to see a $150 bobcat pelt go for $50-.
HunterLuke
That critter looks like a large bobcat to me. Stubed tail and whitish looking belly with the black spots on the inside of the legs.
buckee
Yeah, I'd say it's a Bobcat too. They come in different forms around the country. Most of the time they are more spotted and look like this But it some places they can have more of a plain look to their hides, more like a cougar. ildrhntr
we enlarged the picture and I think it is a bob cat. I can see the spots on it and on the inside of it's legs. kinda had me wondering for a little bit though.

I'm doing a lot of trapping and stuff this year, here's hoping fur prices go up. Dakota
backwoods07
probably a dog, never heard of a mount lion in Il. but anything is possible. They've been spotted in our county! In Galena Territories, where a friend has a house, they even issued warnings to the residents that mountain lions have been spotted on several instances. Ethan Givan
bobcat for sure, you can see the spots on the inside of its legs in the first pic. too small for a lion. we have seen several bobcats here in the last little while. we now have a season for them, we can take up to 5 i think. redkneck
Bobcat. Or at least looks like it to me based on the shape of his back end. We got tons of 'em down here. I didnt think they brought that much. Otters are about the only reason guys still trap down this way, they were bringing top dollar a couple of years ago. 12-point
pretty sure its a bobcat mt lions have rounded ears and large frame with a tall that is the length of there body. More of a mt animal lol but thats a big bobcat and yes there right that hide is worth money if there not protected there
Dakota
prices could be going up, on the trapping website I am at ( www.trapperman.com) they all are depressed about the prices..lol Yep, I'm a member there too. That's just the prices gathered from the South Dakota fur buyers. The only bobcat season we have are for predator hunting and trapping on the western side of the state (West River: the state is divided by the Missourri river). So that leaves me out considering I live in southeast SD. Dakota
