wtnhunt
Been playing around with my new calls while watching the video that came with them and I got a question about using this call. Is it or could it be very effective used for female howls? Have a hot dog call and the higher pitch howls I can do with it sound pretty good, but the ki yi actually sounds better, I think. The directions dont say anything about using it for howls though.
jcwa
Re: primos ki yi call Yes you can howl on the Ki-Yi call, but it sounds more like a pup howl to me. The hotdog would sound better. Just take the mouth piece off the tube and set your teeth 1/2 to 3/4 up the reed.
sureshot
Re: primos ki yi call Never tried the kiYi yet but I know the mini mag I have I have the best sucess 3/4 way up and as I am ending the howl going to 1/2 as I blow seems to give the endign sound to the howl!Earlier in the season I was around 1/2 way seems like more of a pup sound closer to the tip, also I find to do the invitaion howls I am closer to 1/2 which seems to work better! Got to love those open reed calls, I am just about totally chenged over to them now,the primos reg 14 has been better than awsome this winter for me along with the mini mag, !let em knwo how it works out I am allready lookign for a few new ones for next eyar to try out!
