first i'm not a racist so please don't think what i'm about to say is a racial comment ; is anyone tired of hearing about michael jackson like i am ? i am real sorry for those little kids and his families loss but , what about all the vets that have starved or been frozen to death on our countries streets ? what about those men and woman ? idon't see a big thing going on for them ? or a big show that would raise money to help them ? i know this might offend some of you who are jackson fans but, i'm not concerned about that at all - i'm concerned about the truth .

jim

p.s. any opinions ?

I personally don't/didn't care for him, but, what the media is doing with him is no different than when anybody that is famous dies. There attention will start dieing down some now, but it will have it's spurts and then there will be a couple of movies about his life.

I am sure there are numerous people who idolize him and just can't get enough coverage of it. The closest comparison that comes to my mind is when Dale Earnhardt died, the coverage of it was similar as this. If you didn't have a problem with that, then you shouldn't have a problem with this.

That is the great thing about America, if you don't want to read, listen or watch it, change the channel or turn it off, nobody is forcing you to endure it. It isn't bothering me, cause I am not letting it.

I have to say I agree with ya txtrophies, 100% but at the same time I do see others points. It is sad that he was lost I feel for the family and his children especially I saw is daughter on the TV and it was pretty sad to hear. I just thank God we are in a Country that people have the freedome to say whatever they want about it good or bad.

Sick of hearin about it. Couldnt care less. Much more important issues to focus on like Oh I dont know...Our national economy still in the tank and there are still thousands of jobless americans.

Popculture just isnt my thing. Call me old fashioned or just plain old, but When famous people die and the media explodes on It shuts me off.

your right, it is time to move on. so many celebs that i have not seen with him on tv or anything in years are coming out to tell us how much they love and miss him. i think it was Miley Cyrus said she can't stop crying on twitter.... did she really know him.... milking it for 15 minutes in the spotlight!

He is a child molestor, a kid diddler, a PEDOPHILE!! If this was a local fat slob that was touching kids everyone would be glad he was dead and couldn't molest anyone else. I may be wrong in Gods eyes for saying this but "I'm personally glad the POS is dead". OK, I will get my warning from a moderator now in a PM but if he touched my kid, I wouldn't have settled out of court for money. As a dad, protecting my kids no amount of money is worth them living with a nighmare, I would of put him in the ground.....:2guns:

What gets me is there are several people in the armed forces who died today and they get nothing as far as the press is concerned. Yet, they are the people who have kept this country free so creeps like him can become millionaires or whatever.

That people is a big bunch of BS!

Don't know Jeff, from what I was to understand there was coverage for as much as 3 hours on all the major networks as well as all the news channels giving a good deal of live coverage away from their regular schedules as well as delayed coverage later on with the regular newscasts. I don't remember Dale Earnhardt or any other sports figure ever getting quite that much attention. I do agree with you completely about not watching if you choose not to. Anyone can choose to turn off or turn the channel, also have the right to gripe thanks to our constitution.

Fortunately I never got around to watching tv much yesterday until just before bed time. Nicole, our middle daughter turned 8 yesterday and we had company, so the tv was not on much.

Also would agree with what Ken said, no amount of monetary settlement makes up for damages to a child's life. Sure Jackson was never found guilty, but neither was OJ.

These folks who some idolize passing away really makes no difference in my life one way or another, and I agree with the original poster that it is a shame that they are given so much attention when we have real heroes dieing in the field everyday who get little to no attention at all.
