HunterBlake
I have been wondering if urinating off or around your deer stand will affect the movement or lure the deer away from your stand, what are your guys opinions?
jesse8953
2 years ago my brother was in the woods I usually hunt and he decited to sit in my stand [i was not there].He got to my stand and then he realized he had to pee.He knew he shouldn't pee by my stand but couldn't wait.He pee right under my stand.Got up in the stand and was still getting use to it.Not even 10 min. later a nice 10 point appeared out of nowhere and was 13 yards when he shot.To bad for him he missed. That is the only experiance I know of, but I don't pee by where I am hunting.I spend money on scent spray and shower with scent eliminator to try not to leave any scent,so i'm not going to p**S it away.lol
hunter109
man me my dad and my buddy all have peeed out of our stands and had deer 10 feet from the bottom of our trees
HunterLuke
One morning bow hunting I must have drank to much redbull but I had to pee bad and couldn't hold it so I let her fly out of the stand. About 30-45 minutes later it became light and a group of does walked by about 10-15 yards away. The picked around and then I stuck one. They didn't seem to wind it or be affected. But I don't know for sure cause thats just the 1st time I've done it and then had deer come by almost right after.
OHBucks
I try not to I usually have a p - jug with me but there have been times where you just have to go. That being said I have still saw deer around my stand and they didn't seem too bothered by it.
birddog20
if you gotta go ya gotta go. I have peed by my stand a couple of times and never saw any affect on the deer that were walking by. You would probably draw more attention to yourself if you held it in and were squirming all over the place trying not to wet your self. swohiodave
I have went around my stand while up in the air. I have had deer sniffing the ground right over it and just look around and go right back about their business.
wtnhunt
Don't think it hurts at all. Been a lot of good discussions on this topic. Personally I think human urine probably generates curious activity in deer.

hutchies
I've peed out of my treestands for years................never affected one deer. I've peed and half hour later have does so close to my stand I could spit on them.
camoman1
I also believe it has little or no effect on deer. I try not to, but have had to go from the stand, with no bad experiences. Its probably not something they smell often so one would think it would make them more alert, but it doesnt seem to. deerslayer06
i also urinate off of my stand when I need to. I have never had a deer spook due to scenting my urine. Deer smell all types of urine in their home ranges, I don't think peeing off of a tree stand makes a difference AT ALL. And I definitely don't want to be one of those weirdos who transports a jug filled with p*ss to and from my stand. creepy. lol. just let it loose! buckee
man me my dad and my buddy all have peeed out of our stands and had deer 10 feet from the bottom of our trees Ditto ... I've had them come in while it's still steaming and stick their nose in it, wag their tail and go about their business. I used to carry a big pee jar with me all the time, but don't worry any more after experimenting a lot. Some guys even go as far as peeing in their mock scrapes. The painting job I'm working on right now, is just outside of town with lots of neighbourhood deer hanging around. I've been going across the road, into the bush when I have to pee. I've noticed 4 mornings in a row now, that there are deer tracks, and pawing going on, all around the place where I go. wtnhunt
Some guys even go as far as peeing in their mock scrapes. Can lump me in this group. Have had deer come in within a relatively short time after peeing in mock scrapes and watched them take over and freshen those scrapes. Also pee in existing scrapes. buckee
I've never done it but judging by the response on here I just might have to:D Hey, that's what makes this forum so great. I thought I knew everything there was to know about hunting, until I joined up here. I still think I can tell buck poop from doe poop though, in spite of what these guys say...LOL (hasn't failed me yet..eh):)
Shaun_300
I never hesitate having a pee around my stands or anywhere I hunt. If I gotta go I gotta go, not gonna hold it. Haven't had a bad experience with it yet!
redkneck
I try my best not to, but my caffeine habit in the morning calls for it sometimes. Like most have said, I've done it and had deer walk right by, but I still avoid it if possible (had them snort too, but who knows exactly what they winded)
Tominator
I've posted many times on this subject. I actually use it as an attractant from time to time.
garymulti
I have never known it to spook the deer. I try and avoid it but sometimes you just have to go!
JDAWG
I don't think peeing around your tree stand will affect the deer. I have done it and then shot a deer later that morning. I remember when I was a youth hunter out with my grandfather, he started to pee and while he was peeing, a deer came up the trail, so I shot her. The funny thing was that my granddad didn't realize I had seen the deer and fell down and pee'd on himself when I shot. What a funny memory. Slash
Sounds to me like peeing out of your stand is a good idea, almost like it attracts the deer. Judging by every comment on this thread lol
HUNTINGMAN
I dont think it bothers them either,I have had deer come along behind me and stop and smell the exact spot where I went.I read an article in a bowhunting mag about peeing in scrapes to freshin them up and bucks still come to them like nothing happen.Everything liveing has to p so it all has to have a similar smell,it just depends on the diet. treeinwalker
me too. it's like a curiousity scent to them. I am certain, they don't pay it any mind. They smell other critters' urine all the time. It's not like it smells like your cigarette, or used engine oil from when you changed your oil in your hunting shirt, or gas from when you filled your car on the way to your hunting spot, or even your deodorant. It's a natural smell to them. I will say this however. If that deer that guy's brother missed smelled that pee right before he was shot at, it very well could have educated him. Next time he smells it, he might head for the hills, if he smelled it that morning.
