A day in the life of me!

Thought I'd share these pics I took at work today, I'm replacing an engine in a '05 Cadillac CTS-V, it lived a very hard life and ended up breaking a valve spring, valve dropped and embedded into the piston and smashed one of the cylinder heads all to heck. I'm keeping the old engine and rebuilding it for my truck. This engine is an LS6 5.7L that's also found in 2000-2004 Corvette Z06's with 405hp and 400lb ft of torque stock. I'll be running a different camshaft and different heads, so it'll even have more than that when I'm done with it.:D

Took those pics this morning. Today I got the old engine unwired, stripped and out of the subframe, new engine is in with all the accessories and stuff on. Only had time to work on it for a few hours today. Have a couple other things to bolt onto the engine then put the new flywheel, clutch and pressure plate in and that whole big pile of parts on that table is ready to go back in it's home. :D

Any pics of the carnage of the old one?

I completely forgot to take a pic when I pulled the head off, I guess I was so excited that it's fixable and I get to keep it I forgot! :D I figured it would have at least damaged the sleeve (it's an aluminum block) but it never even touched it! I'll pop the head off tomorrow morning real quick and snap some pics.

Thanks guys, I love doing big jobs like this, I'd do them steady if they'd break often enough! :D

That's a lot to keep. What kind of truck are you putting it in?

2000 Silverado 2WD shortbox with a 5 speed standard. Currently has a 4.3L V6.
