Strut10
Looks like you're about to get some of that rain you were wishing for a couple weeks back.
Tominator
Yes sir, we did at that. My rain gauge is broken, but I'd guess we got maybe 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch. I was out fertilizing my sweet corn when it hit. Luckily we got a very soft rain, hardly any wind. That storm built some intensity after it passed us. They had tornado warnings up to the south and east of us. Came very near Fred (Nut) Thought you were going to show me a pic of the Oliver discing in your new plot. Strut10
Thought you were going to show me a pic of the Oliver discing in your new plot. Oliver's got a flat rear tire (air's gone.....calcium's still in) and the tire guy is like hen's teeth. Besides...........with all the more free time I have available to do stuff like this, Oliver can't keep up the pace I set. Old Red is far faster and far more user-friendly than the Oliver. Tominator
Old Red is far faster and far more user-friendly than the Oliver. I can relate. Lack of a 3pt really sucks. Oliver missed the boat on that one. Unless yours has a conversion kit, that is.

Our 550 has a factory 3-point hitch. Power steering, too. It's a good little tractor. Just a pain in the butt to farm with. Kinda like the difference between driving a road course in a '55 Chevy as opposed to and '80's Z-28.
Tominator
Chris...you just need a newer style Oliver!! 50 or 55 series The price on my 770 was right. Free.
Strut10
The price on my 770 was right. Free. 770?? Same series as the 550, right?? No 3-point hitch??
Tominator
770?? Same series as the 550, right?? No 3-point hitch?? Nope. Plain ol' drawbar. 1963 Maybe my father-in-law didn't order it that way, don't really know. He used it in the orchard a lot, so maybe he didn't need a 3 pt. Strut10
Was talking to Dad tonite. He said it almost had to be a special ordered machine. He's pretty sure a 3-point would have been standard on that tractor. A/C and Oliver were way ahead of the curve on that sort of thing. Our 550 is a 1958 and has it. Yours was most likely ordered that way. Dad said for you to check this out if you haven'talready: http://www.ytmag.com/oliver/wwwboard1.html
Tominator
Yep, I've visited that site in the past. My Oliver was probably ordered that way. He probably didn't have too much use for a 3 pt. He had an 8' disc and a 3 bottom plow and towed a variety of planters and sprayers, but never had any use for blades or stuff like that. It's a narrow front too, which I'm not too happy with, but like I said, the price was right.
