MichiganHunter
IR4 Wildgame Innovations Well I hope this helps some of you. This camera is a pretty good deal at $100. It offers IR flash with decent range. It's trigger speed is a bit better than what you might expect for a $100 camera, I've timed it at about 2.5-2.8 seconds from I.D. to trigger time. Also there is a small noise on shutter deployment. I would not really call this a scouting camera as much as I would call it another food plot/feeding station camera, It could probably also be effective if facing up or down a trail catching an animal coming or going, but not facing across a trail trying to catch a side shot of a animal.....so basically it needs 2 seconds to acquire the target and trigger, so food plots, bait stations and up or down trails. So if your looking to get into the IR cameras, or just get a first camera this is a fair way to go. I'll get some pics of animals up once I get a chance to use it on game and not just of me. OVER ALL: On a 1-10 scale I can feel safe to give this a 7.5. It's compact size, IR flash, fairly low price for an IR camera, and ease of use really shoves this camera way up on the list for me. Now if the trigger time was down in the 1 to 1.5 second range, than it could go up to the 9 range and if it had a higher MP than maybe I could shove it up to a 9.5, (there is no such thing as a 10 in my book)

Runs on a standard SD card, Haven't killed the first set of battery's yet so they seam to be lasting rather well.

rbreedi1
I picked one of these up about 3 weeks ago on sale for $75 and have had it set up in the woods close to two weeks on a mineral lick. I checked it 3 days after I set it out just to see how things were working and had 54 pictures. Didnt have any blank pics or pics of nothing. All had something in it. The majority were at night and I was very impressed with the quality of both the day and night pics. The IR flash has good range. Its super easy to set up and run. Im still waiting to see how the battery life is but this is a lot of camera for the price I paid. I'll be checking it early next week and will post some pics for you all. MichiganHunter
Have you tested it's range? How far out was it taking your picture? Hey here are some pics, They are taken at night to show the night quality too, The pics are taken at 30ft, 45ft and at 60ft. It wanted to trigger 70 but could not get it to go. Hope these help every one. On and I know in the 30ft pic it probably looks like I'm digging for gold but I was just swatting skeeters:hammer1:....I need a thermacell review....lol OH, and the pics are taken on a slight up hill path from a vertical fence or the IR flash would of been right on I think Edited July 27, 2009 by MichiganHunter

GWSmith
Sometimes there may not be a lot of response on these type posts, but it never hurts to give reviews on products others might be interested in. Agreed...I know for a fact this is true as I have a nephew(new to hunting) who is lurking the forums learning everything he can about hunting. You nailed the Review...especially your view of the camera as a bait station/food plot camera. Your suggestion about facing it up or down a trail is a great suggestion and a perfect solution to using a camera that has a slower trigger speed than some of the more expensive ones. The only thing I was looking for that you did'nt include was sample pictures...Gotta have the pics when your talking about a camera;) (just noticed that this post was from a few months ago...got any pics to show off yet???) woolybear
Thanks for the thorough review Michiganhunter and the additional points and pics by others. Enough positive for me to say it's worth a shot for the price. I picked one of these up today to get back in the game cam mix.

I have two and both are set on video mode and had them out in the woods about a month and still holding up really good still.

CajunHunter
Thanks for the photos and review. Totally helped me out on telling my friend that this camera is a good one. Much appreciated. When I got mine, I got it last year, I love it. The battery life lasted just a tad over a month. I never need more than about 45ft of range because of how dense my trees are. Totally recommend it for any beginner hunter.
dbHunterNY
good to see a review on here help. i use Wild Game Innovations cameras too. I'm putting another out tonight I believe. I've got an IR4 that's been out from earlier this week. This camera review was very consistent to what I found out with my use of the IR4. the new ones this year are even better with more features and at the same cost. I've even picked up the Wild Game Innovations external battery pack for it. the battery pack's still running from last season on the same charge and it the battery pack cost the equivalent of 4 changes of C batteries. Definitely a good investment.
