nastynissan4487
I will be in the market for a new bow next year (maybe sooner but not trying to count my chickens before they hatch) and just wanted to get some ideas on what to buy next.. I without a dought will be buying a bow that comes with the lifetime warranty and it will more than likely be a mathews because I have owned and shot mathews bows in the past and never had a problem with them and loved the way they shot.. I currently shoot a used martin that I got used for a good deal. Money got tight and my mathews had to go a couple of years back and ended up with the martin to make a long story short.. However I have always shot solid limb, single cam bows and was looking for a change with my next bow.. Wanted to get a dual cam bow with split limbs just for something different I guess but like I said my biggest thing is the lifetime warrenty. That turned me on to the Mathews Monster. What are your opinions of the monster, Im hoping somebody here has shot it before or maybe even hunted with it. The reviews and specs I read on mathews website really got me excited about this bow and I cant wait to get to the pro shop and check it out for myself.. I just couldnt get over it when I read on one review that they acheived a blistering 362fps with the monster and a lighter arrow.. Just any information you could give on this monster would be helpful. Thanks alot for your info and opinions.. Double Drops
I owned a Monster for about a month & it just wasn't for me. It definitely has a different draw cycle than the other Mathews bows, but that wasn't an issue for me. I just couldn't get consistantly good groups with it like I should have been getting. I ended up trading for a Reezen 7.0 and I'm glad that I did. I just prefer a single cam bow and I'm 100% happy with the Reezen. Definitely give the Monster a shot. I know of several that are happy with theirs.
Elwood
I shot the Monster a couple of days ago and was impressed with the speed and the no hand shock.....60 pounds and 311fps....I was impressed. I still can not let go of my Switchbacks but the Monster is no BS Not the draw cycle of the standard Mathews (loads up quick and lets off quick) but if you want speed, you will sacrifice smoothness....but not as much as I thought .. Squirrelhunter91
I shot the Monster a couple of months back and like Double Drops & Elwood said, it really doesnt have the typical smooth Mathews draw cycle. I have a 2008 DXT so I know all about the smooth Mathews cam and whatnot. The #1 thing I didn't like about the Monster was that you really couldn't creep at all. If you creeped just the slightest 1/4", it would rip your shoulder out. No thanks. I'll stay with my DXT.
hutchies
I think they set out to make a speed bow for the critics because people had been hounding them about speed. It is exactly that......... Draw cycle starts off hard to pull......then it seems like in the middle that it eases up........followed by OMG is this thing going to break over into the valley. Good back wall to hold against, little valley as most speed bow have. To me it has to many parts........the floating yokes to get the cam lean out and there are bearings everywhere. Not that I wouldn't own one but if I did it would be the 60 lb model
craig mack
I shot it and didnt like it at all. If I were you I would go to a pro shop and shoot as many different bows as possible and let the bow pick you not the other way around. Lots of nice bows out there by many different bow companys. snapper
I shot one...imagine pulling a large nylon rope through a piece of drywall with a slightly smaller hole than the dia. of your rope! To me, thats what the draw felt like....it was fast, but compared to the Reezen and the Alphamax...there seemed to be more hand shock. With all the test shooting of different bows...I ended up buying the Hoyt Alphamax. If I were to choose a Mathews....I'd go with the Reezen 7.0...the Monster is not for me. Go shoot one and you'll have to decide for yourself.
