Dawg
Man this hot weather is getting a bit too much. We had record breaking temps for almost 2 weeks straight and now it looks as if high pressure is setting over us again. I've been wanting to go out and hang my new stand, replace my box stand with a new I built, do some trimming and some tilling for my food plots but with temps in the high 90's and the heat index about 105-110 I just can't bring myself to do it. Guess I'm going to have to bite the bullet and just go before it gets to late. How many of ya'll in the South have already started working on their spots? rhine16
I've done a summer plot, but am yet to do anything with my fall plots. Planning to go in and spray my plots next week or the next. Got plenty of time before planting time really. Planning to do a couple mineral sites next week also. May go ahead and hang a couple stands. Have you been getting much rain in MS? We are under a burn ban and several counties around me are too. It's ridiculous, I'm ready for about a good week of slow rain. rhine16
We hadn't had rain for two weeks up until yesterday.... got nearly an inch yesterday morning. As far as taking the heat, I'm going to be outside doing something, I'd rather be on one of the farms.
Rhino
Worked on my ladder stands in late May and early June but haven't been in the woods except to move and check trail cams since then. Going to work on some of my bow stands Friday through Sunday since it looks like it won't be as hot as its been lately. Generally, I work on stands during the morning hours before it heats up too bad. Over the years that's the only way I've found to deal with the heat and still be able to prepare my stands before bow season. My free time in September is either spent on a tractor getting our hunting club ready for deer season or working on the club's stands. For that reason I need to try to have my own stands ready before Labor Day weekend.
wtnhunt
Been too hot here too Corey, but other than this rain and little break the last few days it is really not likely we will any significant cooler weather between now and the time season opens in Sept. I need to do some work on our box blind, and do some trimming for stands. With all we have going on, I won't be planting any late summer/fall plots this year, just won't have the time for it. Hope to get our hang on and stick ladder setup for early archery hung around the last week of August.
