mathews4life
anyone have problems w/ ants getting in your cams? i have a moultrie IR 6.0 and noticed that i was getting tons of pictures of nothing. it was like it was just randomly going off. so after about the 3rd week of this i noticed a few ants on the camera so i took it out of the woods and when i got home i took it completely apart and it was FULL of ants. I cleaned all of them out and put the camera back together. I have yet to set it back out but do you think that the ants in the camera could have been triggering it to constantly go off?? does anyone know any tricks to keep them buggers out of there? redkneck
Ants are attracted to electricity for some reason and this may be part of the problem. I dont understand how they can get in there?
RackBlaster
I deal with that every year:angry: I'm not sure where you put your camera, but I put my camera on a tree, so I bought some ant killer and spread it around thick at the base of the tree. Make sure its the granular type, one dose should last the season. It does have a faint odor but doesn't spook the deer at all.

Adjam5
Yes...we have a Stealth cam that gets loaded with ants also. Maybe they are attracted to the electronics. A phenomenon no doubt.
OHBucks
Wow man that's weird I have been having the same problem. The first time I checked mine I had a few false triggers on it but I also had alot of pictures of deer too. The the past few times out it's been loaded with ants. So finally I took it off that tree and moved it. I noticed the tree I had it on was kind of looking like it was starting to rot. So hopefully that helps a little. It bums me out when I travel an hour to get to our lease and the camera is loaded with "false triggers" especially when I know there are alot of deer in the area. dogdoc
I also have that problem every year. I just keep a little sevin dust and sprinkle the top of the camera and that kills all the ants and keeps new ones from taking residence. Mirage
We too have the same problem. here are a few tricks to try. I put in a flea and tick collar with the battery,s I cut a small peica and stick it in with the batteries and if they do get in the camera I take the camera home and stick it in the freezer that kills the ants dead. Zambo
Like Tom I have not had that problem with any of my Cuddebacks. We do have lot's of thatch ants around and they get into the trees near thier nests. I have had them on the out side of the camera but not in them.
