jesse8953
Has anyone heard that there are polititions that want to ban smoking in war zones. What a bunch of crap.A member in the military said there is enough stress for our troops without banning smoking. If the men and women in the service want to smoke when they are at war, then let them. They are risking there lives and someone tells them they can't smoke, what is wrong with people?Fighting for freedom, then get told you can't smoke.I don't understand people who want to make rules like this.Maybe the polititions need to do a year tour on the battle feild and see the stress level the men and women are having.I don't smoke and never have but this sounds rediculis to me. wtnhunt
Have not heard that Jesse. Really don't see any way politicians will ever be able to make that happen. Obama even smokes on occasion, they going to ban him from smoking too?????? Not hardly appropriate to pass on this kind of thing when there is no example set by who should be the commander in chief. Gator
I read a little on that yesterday, and had heard a little on it before. What a crock of BS!!!! You wanna elevate the stress level, do something like this and see what happens

Texan_Til_I_Die
Sounds like what I would expect from the current CiC. Add that to the recent orders not to shoot back at the Taliban if there is ANY chance of hitting a civilian, and you'll get a clear picture of the direction he wants to take the military. OUTSIDER
Veteran here...if i were in a foreward operations area in any sort of a hot spot, i would not smoke. For many reasons, like at night the enemy can see your red glowing ember on your cig, the flash of your lighter can be seen easily, whenever we had PT...all the smokers were usually hackin and coughin at the back of the pack while running. I think it would be smart for guys and gals over there to ween themselvs off of cigs and tobacco before they go over there. Just my opinion, but there is no way the congress should be telling our vets over there that they cant smoke while fighting. I have seen some harry situations, would have like to had something to mellow me out a few times.
camoman1
Yeah, smoking is definately not a healthy activity. But these brave men and women are there defending our freedom, now congress wants to take AWAY their freedoms?!! How ridiculous!!!! Man, some of these politicians deserve a swift kick in the rear sometimes!!:poke:
johnf
Yeah, smoking is definately not a healthy activity. Neither is getting shot at without the ability to defend yourself. I guess we should just pull out and all become a communist muslem world. :crutch:
ultratec1
Its amazing what our country has become. We now have a law in Iowa, and Im sure alot of other states have it as well, where no one is allowed to smoke in a bar. Now I'm a former smoker and will say that Im glad everyday that I choose to quit however I dont think that a state, city, council, or any other form of government should dictate if a person can smoke. The state of Iowa has risen the taxes on all tobacco products, Cigarettes $6.74pk Chew $5.58. At one point chew was over $6 a can but U.S. smokeless tobaccon dropped the prices. Now the state is trying to raise the taxes once again. It getting ridiculous. Just one more thing the goverment is trying to control. OUTSIDER
We have county smoking bans here in West Virginia, I absoultely love them, no smoking in public places such as restruants, clubs, bars and such. I could care less if they smoke at bars, i dont go to them but i do appriciate the smoke free atmosphere at restruantsk clubs, and other places. woolybear
Awesome ain't it? Fire one up in the car or in the home in front of a kiddo, but heaven forbid you burn one across enemy lines. :smoke: Looks like they got the go ahead to puff for now, but future legislation is in the works. woolybear
I bet alot of the soldiers over seas are wondering why theyre fighting for a government who is against them Bet you're close. Probably more like, "why are we fighting for freedom only to have our own liberties taken away?" Just a slap in the face to the troops IMO that it ever came up. Smoke an "Oscar Meyer Weiner" if you choose.., but no "Manly Marbs" allowed??? At least don't get caught. I don't get it.:surrender:
JimT
If Obama, commander in chief, can smoke, anyone should be able to.
