swohiodave
How many of you are pretty loyal to one store? I am shopping around for a new lock on and I want that rope you can hang from the tree to hook your safety belt to for the whole climb. I have climbed for years and not worried but it is something I think about now while house hunting. Well Bass pro is my preferred store but they want $45 while Cabelas wants $40. I sent them an email and they just ignored it. It still would be cheaper for me to buy it at the local bass pro than to pay shipping but why the $5 difference. I know its a small difference but I spend a lot of money there and they could have at least emailed me back! sorry, i just had to rant!!! rookieee
Don't like Bass Pro i have always used Cabelas
Norm Sauceman
I shop for price, period. I try to shop locally but if I can get a better price elsewhere while I am out, so be it.
texastrophies
It still would be cheaper for me to buy it at the local bass pro than to pay shipping If you can buy it locally cheaper at the store you like, than you can from online at the store you don't like, what is the problem? You have to take price, tax, & shipping into account, as they all add up. The other thing is item in hand versus waiting for it in the mail. BuckNrut
Good argument Texas, but the main issue here is that of customer service, and it appears that BP did not go the (expected) extra mile for customer satisfaction. That being said, perhaps BP deserves to loose this patron?:hammer1:
swohiodave
Im ordering from Cabelas just for the fact that I can see they are being competitive in this situation and BP just does not care. I get good service at the store but their online support stinks.
GWSmith
You could make your own by going to the local Lowes or Home Depot;)\ If I can tie a Prussic Knot anyone can!

WHISKEYSWAMP
I typically shop Cabela's but bought a turkey vest at the new Bass Pro in Perrysburg this year... $15 cheaper. I also go to the the Sportsmens Den in Shelby, Oh... very competitive prices and locally owned. It's probably a little far of a drive for you but they have some great sales throughout the year. jm23494
Several times I have found items at Cabela's cheaper than BPS. All you have to do to get them to match the price is print out the item details from your computer or take the circular in to Customer service and they will match it 99% of the time. I just did this with a backpack and had no problems.
bigmoss
Cant stand Bass Pro for that reason, I have found that 99% when I have compared they are MUCH more expensive that Cabelas and the rest, I only use them if everyone else is sold out and I really need what I am looking for. GWSmith
good idea GW, i bet a\I could make a few for what anyone wants for one! Just be very careful about the attachments....your safety requires a "Climbers grade Carabiner" so it can handle the shock of a fall if it needs to. Do Not Use just anything that looks the same like the ones on keychains...most of these you could spread open with a good effort from you hands and in no way could handle the shock of a falling body! Yep GW, couldn't agree more. Sad thing is, I've been doing this for many years, before HSS "marketed" this as a climbing rope, I just attach my harness to the loop in the knot, works without a carabiner, but for ease of use might as well use one. I can make several ropes for the price they charge for one. Now about that vest they "invented"..................
swohiodave
Thanks GW, i thought about that. I still have the carabiner from the harness that came with my summit stand along with that 8ft rope and knot!
GWSmith
Your Welcome No reason what so ever that someone cant make some of these things and save some money. Sometimes not too much gets saved because alot of these companies buy supplies in bulk. Often times it's a wash as far as saving goes but you end up with the satisfaction of building your own out of hand picked quality products. The only problem I can see is if people are unaware or forget to take into consideration the safety factors that are often built in.
