92xj
Since I moved out west and have a real job and making good money I went and bought myself a sweet tv and I just got cable!!!! This is the first time in 8 years that I have had cable. Anyhow, just bought a cheap DVD player and I hooked the yellow, white, and red wires up to the back of the cable box instead of the tv (they will not reach the tv). Now where the heck do I go to see the DVD? The player is on but I can not find the DVD input anywhere. Any ideas?
Alisha
There is no input button on your tv remote?
92xj
There is no input button on your tv remote? There is on the TV remote, but since I hooked it into the cable box I dont think the input to the actual TV changes from the input sorce of the cable box. Does that make sense? I really dont have any idea what I am talking about or doing. I am so technology dumb, even though most people think I should know a lot more about electronics because of my job :clown:
Alisha
Have you tried just turning the DVD player on and see if that works? LOL. Sorry Ben, I'm not much help. :clown:
Alisha
Oh shoot, I just reread your post. Whoops. I see that didn't work. Nevermind me. :hammer1:
92xj
haha, I am pretty dumb when it comes to this stuff, I have tried hitting the power button every 30 seconds while trying different things just to make sure I know its on or off. Alisha
I googled it, and it sounds like you need an RF converter...whatever that is.
Alisha
Ben, try this link.... :clown: http://www.fixya.com/support/t1629683-problem_hooking_up_dvd_player_tv_thru
92xj
Well that is the straight stupid. I only spent 15 bucks on the DVD player and now I have to pay the same price for some stupid converter thing. Sounds like I will go any buy an extension cord instead to move the dvd player closer to the Inputs on the side of the TV. I fail

OJR
Don't feel bad, I have a DVD recorder and I haven't figured out how to record from the DVR! This all happened last October! I guess I will call Sony one of these days! LOL!!
Leo
Um, I would venture you plugged into the output jacks on the back of the cable box. It just isn't gonna work for you like that. Get some longer cables a plug from DVD player to the TV

Get some longer cables a plug from DVD player to the TV Yep, think Leo is right. Never heard of a cable box with inputs for a dvd player. Might also check into super video or rgb component rca type cables if the dvd has those outputs or an hdmi cable if your dvd player has an hdmi output. Picture quality will be much better with the better cables.

MCH
You can also buy extensions for the 3 prong cords.
92xj
well I solved the problem. I moved the TV stand down 3 feet closer so they reach the TV instead of going into the cable box. That seemed like a pretty easy fix :clown: Why do I tend to make things a lot harder than they really are.:hammer1:
Alisha
Why do I tend to make things a lot harder than they really are.:hammer1: Simply because you are a man, and men tend to do that. :clown:
92xj
Simply because you are a man, and men tend to do that. :clown: Ha, dont get me started. Men do that about 1% of the time compared to the 98% of the time from woman. At least we dont analyze everything little thing and try and get thoughts and opinions from nothing........:jaw::angel1: :clown::clown::clown:
