jared264mag
Well I didn't read all ever how many pages but you have to understand like some said this is his job it's what he does. So like I read he don't have to come back to any level. You also have to consider the area where you are hunting and if there are a lot of bucks only seeing a few does is disappointing just like in West Texas where I hunt if I only see a few does I would be unhappy. olsplittoe
I'd be dissappointed too if I was on a trophy hunting property and just saw does all day. The man isn't meat hunting, he is hunting for a trophy whitetail to show us on film. Thats his job bro.....it's not called Monster Does.......... Ditto!!!!!! Domin8r28
WOW....all this hostility because of an OPINION no wonder people don't like hunters. First of all, I travel for a living as well so was not able to access this thread while I was away, so no I was not just stirring the pot. Secondly, I NEVER said David was a bad guy, I was only stating that I personally was disappointed with his comment. Third, to the people calling names and making rude comments(gator,hoosierhunter,etc).....GROW UP! Fourth, the show was not called monster bucks it was realtree outdoors, I understand they use this footage for mb as well but get it right. I think you got your answer from people that know David personally ... or aren't they intitled to give you thier opinions as well ?? As for the hostility, I'm not quite sure what you are referring too .. Just in case you didn't read ALL of the posts, I gave you a few responses below from Pro Staffers that do this for a living and have hunted with David and know what the man is about .. I'm not sure if you could find anyone that hunts that hasn't had a disappointing experience in the field. Bad weather, a miss, or just not seeing anything, it's going to happen. And that goes for anywhere and anybody. I think it's OK to be disappointed. It's like saying a professional athlete or NASCAR driver are not allowed to be disappointed when they lose. They are, but that doesn't mean they are not appreciative of their status in their particular field. Many of the comments in this thread bring up good points and everyone is entitled to their opinion. David is in the hunting business. Don't think he and all the others are not appreciative of the opportunities they have been given. We all understand it's not the same as hunting public land or areas where trophy game animals are few and far between (many of us here live that every season). Bill, David, Michael and all the others do get to hunt in outstanding locations and for unbelievable trophies, but our past and our reputation are on the line every season. They are out there trying to deliver footage and hunts that people have come to expect from Realtree. And the hunts allow those of us who might never have a chance to go on one, see what it's like. I get asked (a lot) what it's like to work at Realtree? Everyone assumes that we are all on the road every year enjoying dream hunts. That's not the case and I have told anyone that will listen that there is no way that I could do what David and the others do. DVDs and TV doesn't tell the whole story. If you look at the amount of time they are on the road and in the woods, I don't know if one, two, or even three nice trophies a year would be worth the time spent away from my home and families. From late August until mid January, those guys are basically on the road and in the woods somewhere. That close to half of a year gone... every year. Thanks, S Good reply Scott! Last year 3 trips--1 trophy this year 4 trips hopefully 3 trophies LOL i've hunted with david, and he's the real deal. i'd hunt with him anytime. but, i would not want his job. just too much pressure and too much time away from home. every hunt he goes on is new pressure to shoot a "monster buck" video part. sure, he has top notch outfitters wanting him to come out and hunt with them. then, these guys try to put him on their best animals. it's called "advertising". if david shoots a monster, they fill up their hunts for years to come. and hunting product manufacturers want david to use their products, and ford wants them to drive a ford. simple as that. but if he doesn't kill a nice buck, no video is made usually and everyone is out. so, while david is an outstanding guy, he has a pile of pressure and a very hectic schedule. i'm sure he'd prefer to go out to the stand with 3 cameras, shoot a 200 point P&Y, and be back at the lodge by 9am so he can go home the next day. but that doesn't happen often enough. And WELCOME to the Realtree Forums ... Edited July 29, 2009 by VermontHunter
Rhino
WOW!!!!!! When used correctly, it is a term used to label those of us with 5, 10, 20 THOUSAND posts. Thank you for your time. Like Gator said the moron issue he was referring to is an old inside joke started several years ago referring to members with a lot of post. Don't take it personal because there is a history of good ol fun pickin about it between us old timers that I understand you weren't aware of. Please do the search that Gator suggested and you'll understand. Also there have been instances in the past when someone would come in for the sole purpose of bashing some RT prostaffer, Realtree, or just all hunters in general. We've also had treehuggers come in with the sole purpose of stirring up trouble too. Unfortunately that goes with the territory when it comes to a hunting related open forum like this. Please keep that in mind and try to look at the big picture from both sides. I've read every answer to your 1st post Domin8r28 and the vast majority are personal opinions answering your 1st post that didn't appear to be rude to me. I do understand why your feathers were ruffled by a few though. Your abstance after your 1st post was the main cause of most of those rude type post you referred to. Although I understand you were traveling and thus unable to respond, the members here certainly didn't know that. By the way...Welcome aboard. wtnhunt
And yes Casey this is made for fun...and to draw people to log on here repeatedly and look at the ads LOL:D For as far back as I can remember you could come directly to these forums without ever going to the homepage. Most of the regular members who have been here for any length of time will remember a time when there were no banners and no advertisements of any type on any of the forum pages. Actually it was not all that long ago that there were complaints about the black sidebars where the banners are now located. This forum has been around for over 9 years now, advertisements have come along in just the past few years, so to say that this forum was created for the ads is simply not true. Just like you have an opinion of David Blanton, some members here have an opinion of what they have seen in the past. Try and understand that there have been others who have signed up here who came here just to rant about someone or something they did not like only to never be seen again. And I have to also agree with what was said immediately above by Tony, you will not find a better group anywhere out there than the members here. buckee
I wasn't sure where to post this, so I figured the Pro Staff forum would work. I was watching Realtree this morning and David Blanton was hunting with Northern Rockies Outfitters. He said something that bothered me. During the first or second day of the hunt, after being in the stand and "only" seeing does, he said it was a disappointing day. I must disagree with this. As an avid hunter since I was 9 years old, any day in the field is a good day. In my state where hunting pressure is very heavy and property is at a premium, the time and effort I have to put in just to find a place to hunt is extensive. I don't have outfitters throwing their managed land/deer at me to get their free advertising on my TV show. There are many days in the field that I don't see a single deer, but I love being out there just as well. Seeing the number of does that David thought was disappointing, would be greatly appreciated by me and many other hunters in MD that depend on overcrowded public land for our main/only source of hunting pleasure. I almost thought he redeemed himself when he said he "couldn't" pass up the buck he finally shot, but then he stepped in it again by stating it was late on the last day of the hunt.....almost as if he was settleing for an inferior buck because it was the last day and fading light conditions. I just think you/he needs to get back down to earth a little and live in the average hunters shoes, and remember what it's like to not have the big ones thrown at you. What really bugs me is the way us hunters pick each other apart every time we open our mouths. David is a stand up guy and besides going hunting just to be there and enjoy Gods perfect creation, he is also there, with a cameraman trying to get the best hunting footage he can for our entertainment. In that respect, I would be disappointed too. Instead of asking David to put himself in your shoes, how about first placing yourself in his, so you can understand the frustration of getting good hunting footage. I was half kidding about the ads on the site thing (note the lol and smiley). And I was more referring to the website in general not just the forums. Webpages are a great way to make yourself and your products known. And if you create a way (ie forum) to get people to come back often, you have created a great place to advertise. WHICH I AM %100 OK WITH. I like it here, and have no complaints about how the site/forums are. The folks who made and help keep this place going did/do a great job. And one of the reasons I like it here is because I can log on directly to the forums or whatever I want to look at w/o having gadgets being waved in my face. bucknut
I am not trying to start a war on here but i gotta say that most of the hunting shows have turned into...dare I say it...Freak Shows. 90% of the shows are not realistic in my opinion, they hunt in dream locations and push products that do not work (for the most part) in normal hunting situations. Seems that hunting shows are more of a less controlled infomercial. The big hunting personalities have turned into low key Billy mays of the hunting world of products. Just love to hear it when someone shoots a ten point on a ranch that has a 160" minium, Well i could not have gotten this buck without my scentlock underwear, underarmour shirt, woolrich socks, danner boots, scent killer, cough sliencer, lone wolf treestand, leupold ARC rangefinder, mathews, easton, ford, toxonics, trophy taker, muzzy doinker, sim vib. lab, scott archery, glens deer handle, buck knives, little debby, foldgers coffee, mc donalds, sheetz gas station, middle valley ford, lincoln, mercury, blah, blah, blah by freggin blah. Does it not bother you guys to watch people like David Blanton and many of the rest of them sell out to hunting product companies?? I know the companies are what keep them going but come on, it gets a little redundant. I will prolly get a lifetime ban after that rant, but do realize that i still love to watch hunting shows, love the tv personalities, and all that. I just wish it were more realistic. I hear yah... i had to laugh when i read this... Iam watching the new primtime bucks video as i speak... and i just watched Stan Potts shoot a nice deer.. First thing out of his mouth.. Sugar Creek Outfitters... who would actually say that?? It just didnt seem realistic at all.. pretty funny to watch though... made me shake my head a little.. sorry if i went off topic... As far as David Blanton being dissapointed by just seeing does... i would be to if i was hunting in a place where he has had past success and he knows that big bucks are there...
