when is the deer contest

Well................I am not going to well get into the whole well thing and i am going to well use punctuation so this thing is well written so you can well understand it...

You guys on here ever think of having a management contest instead of a Big Buck contest? It might be easier than a best buck contest...this would be for archery only...and could be done with teams instead of individually...

Fawn does count for 1 point

Adult does count for 2 points

a button buck is -3 points

a 1 1/2 year old is -2 points

a 2 1/2 year old is -2 points

a 3 1/2 year old is -1 point

a 4 1/2 year old and up is +4 points

Coyote is +3 points

Turkey is +2 points

This could eliminate the whole scoring thing, and pretty much leave it to aging and so on. Just a thought.

Well thats it so well what do all of you think well i hope this helps

That would be more difficult for scoring. Aging deer is not an exact science and would be far more difficult compared to the old points scoring method. That would certainly give us more to argue about. Are you going to submit jawbones to the mod in charge? Some of us won't shoot a fawn doe period or any fawn for that matter. Many hunters are limited on how many does they can legally kill too. Some of us can't kill turkeys in the fall since there's no season. Some forum member's chances of killing a 2 year old buck on their home turf is less than a hunter's chances at killing a 5 or 6 year old buck hunting average ground in the midwest, known prime big buck states, and prime Canadian provinces.

The bottom line is to use the K.I.S.S. method when determining a scoring system for an on line deer contest. The past scoring method was pretty simple.

I can see how this would be unfair...or confusing. I am an idiot...forgot about how much different states fluctuate in game laws, game size, etc...my bad:hammer1:

WRONG!

From Ohio's DNR site:

Antlered deer are deer with antlers 3 inches or longer in length; antlerless deer include deer without antlers and deer with antlers less than 3 inches in length.
