camoman1
Sad story...I knew some states allowed kids to hunt at an early age (like 8or9 y/o) but I was under the assumption that an adult had to be with them.. Im all for the adult supervision until the age of 16, not only for the safety of others, but for the kids safety.
wtnhunt
That is a shame, imo you just cannot stress enough knowing your target and what is beyond it. These type incidents would not be happening if that rule was followed. Without going back and looking pretty sure in Tennessee, the youth hunter under age 16 is supposed to be accompanied by an adult in position to take immediate control of the firearm. That article says youths in TN can hunt alone at age 10, going to have to check that out.
NY_Bowhunter14
In NY I think you have to be 14 before you can even pick up a bow. You have to be 16 to gun hunt, also at age 16, you can start hunting by yourself... I like it that way, 14 is too young to be hunting by yourself, no matter how many classes you have been too. They need the actual hunting experience, and be presented with actual situations...
