Who else in here is an all-out salsa freak?

Since my tomato's was a huge bust, just got to hot to soon... And before the last of my maters went bad I decided to make some salsa... Blanch and removed the skin... Then I squeezed out the seeds and liquid.. Placed the maters on a wire rack then into the smoker for about a hour using hickory.. While the maters were smoking I simmered and down the liquid, ran through a strainer to remove the seeds..

Fresh out of the smoker...

Dropped these in the blender and pulsed a few times to get the consistency I wanted....

Add to the pot with 1/2 of a large fine chopped onion, 3 cloves of fine chopped garlic, 3 jalapenos de-seeded and fine chopped...Simmer for 30-45 minutes add salt as needed..

After all said and done I managed to get two pint jars out of all my tomato's...

Its a shame this is all I could get out of all my plants... Oh well it still home grown...

Smoked maters! That's the way to take it to a new level. Sorry about your garden not doing so well. I put all mine in a raised bed this year. A bit more extra cash up front, but man do they take the water/fertilizer good. Of course in your case, more of a matter of heat than drought I guess.
