Ever had your hood come open at 65 mph??

It ain't good for them.

Just left work and was maybe 2 miles down the road (a limited access 4-lane........and on a bridge right where traffic was merging on) when BAM!!!! There it is. Smashed the windshield. Gouged up the roofline. The back corners were bent up way worse than in the pic. I pulled them back a good deal. Hit so hard it knocked the suglasses compartment open in the overhead console.

If you've never done this......I don't reccommend it.

Interesting....

Did you by any chance figure out why it flew open?

Glad you didn't have any front end damage to go along with it.

It's coming together.

It had been at the repair shop since Wednesday getting a leak fixed in the water pump seals. I knew that all the A/C stuff and radiator, etc had to be taken out. But (from shiny edges on the bolt heads) it appears that they had the core support out too. That's what the hood latch is bolted to. I'm guessing there was a misalignment of the hood latch when it was all stuck back togehter.

Dang, Don that's bad, glad you're ok. Happened once to me and a buddy in high school driving down the highway in a '64 ford pickup. Scared the snot out of us, but after we got stopped we got the hood down and it only had some minor damage around the hood hinges. Needless to say that old '64 had a LOT more iron in it than your jeep does.
