woolybear
Anyone disgusted by the "Michigan's Plexiglass 'MOOSE'" on page 17 the way I am? 197 3/8" brute..... but at what cost? Fact that this dude was one of the feature stories is upsetting to me. A sloppy slob shot I don't think any single one of us would condone. Well I can only speak for myself. Now he's famous for his kill. That's all it came across to for me. He needed that buck at any cost and got lucky. I hope this fella dissapears like the set of the sun and never comes back. Full blown jerk with no respect for the game.
Gator
Haven't seen the story, what are some of the details?

woolybear
Best link I could find to the story. I'll bite my tounge at this point and refrain from any potty mouth bashing of Bill Rushford. Hope this is his 16'th minute of his 15 minutes of fame. Not the NAW article but this about sums it up. WTG buddy... you done us "hunters" proud by "KILLING" a magnificent buck.:crutch: By the way...., stage left is to your left dumb donkey. http://www.freep.com/article/20081211/SPORTS10/812110394/1008
The Kid
wow i think the part where it says "Ive never really shot through plexiglass so i didnt know what to expect" that about sums up how smart his decision was??
camoman1
Definatley not the brightest idea!! Who knows what that plexiglass could have done to that round...could have made a bad hit or even hurt himself in the process......what a dope. woolybear
Guess what gets my goat about this the most is that NAW felt this was a worthy story to publish in an educational hunting mag. I'd just assume read about someones well thought out tactics shooting up slickheads than this malarky. I love to read about hunts from the hunters but this has crossed a very definative line when it comes down to taking a positive stance on what this media promotes in ethical hunting. Next time show me a picture and spare us (or at least spin) the story. Another black eye for all of us to walk around with. I'm not even sure why I pay to read this crap anymore other than to have something to gripe about.
Casey
I'm not going to point fingers at NAW, they just wrote up the article, I would be more aggressive toward the hunter than NAW. I bet there were some confused editors in that office, thinking "should we publish this" Back to the hunter: "Rushford's next step, while unorthodox, was smart and efficient: He said he aimed his Remington 700 rifle, chambered in Remington 7mm magnum, and, "I just shot through the Plexiglas." The window was partially covered with frost, so he couldn't see what happened to the deer immediately after the shot." I wouldn't use unorthodox as a word, nor would I was the words smart and efficent. I'd use, foolish, dumb, and unethical. But wait there is more!!! hahaha He couldn't see anything, because the frost covered the window. Its called hunters safety. Learn it, apply it. You make sure you got a clear view of your target and make an ethical shot. Edited July 25, 2009 by Casey

Zambo
NAW is only reporting the story as it happened, Don't shoot the messenger. Unless of coarse you shoot at them through a frosted window. LOL Seriously, though this kill at any cost is not the type of message hunters want to send out in print. However we don't want them to fabricate any part of the story either. Great buck, tough story to tell.
Mirage
i think he just let the excitement get to him. I dont think he should have shot through the plexiglass, but he did kill that deer and I would think it may be hard to say what any of us would do faced with a wolrd record class buck stnading in front of us. Now I am in no way saying it was ok I can see how he got excited and thought he was making a rash choice. I just would have not told anybody about that part if it were me....lol:clown:

Inches only add up on the ground and that's the only length this dude was willing to go through to accumulate them.
