bluelund79
Yep, bad enough that I went and took up bowhunting again and bought a new bow. Bird hunting is fun, but the deer fills up the freezer longer. Plus, when I get pup in a couple of weeks, she won;t be ready until next bird season... fly
I couldn't imagine hunting with just my shotgun. IL has a 2 weekend firearm season in November and a third for the smokepole in December. That wouldn't come close to giving me my fill. October bowhunting can't get here soon enough for me. I'm running a 100 degree fever now and each week it goes up a degree. Frank, you still planning to drop in during the first shotgun season for a visit? I mapped it and it looks like it's about 35 miles from Vienna. You'd take route 146 West to Ware IL. From there take route 3 North to Wolf Lake. Our deer camp is just minutes from Wolf Lake. I'll be there Thursday evening through Sunday about noon. We'd love to have you if you have the time. Usually it's just me, my dad, my brother, and my cousin.
carolinakidd
I keep the FEVER about 365 days a year...Season starts August 15 here in SC,but it is SO HOT. I'm blessed that we have such a long season, but when I look at the pics from some of the deer you guys have up north, I wish I owned a few acres up there to visit every winter. We have some real nice deer/hogs around here, but to be able to hunt a 300lb deer in the snow is awesome.Good luck to everyone in finding that cure for your fever this year.. Texan_Til_I_Die
I'm starting to think about it a little. Right now, I'm mostly in the gear planning stage. Gonna upgrade my video camera to a digital and try to snag a nice pair of high end binos before the season. Also have a lot of winter food plot planting, but that won't start until Sep. I need to find a good 12 foot tandem or maybe an offset plow.

Tominator
Getting there. Normally I'm shooting the bow every now and then, but selling the old house, and building the new house has me so busy I don't even know which end is up most times. :pop: The other day my wife ran up to town to get pizza and asked if I wanted to go. She kind of gave me that look like she wanted someone to talk to, so I hopped in. 1 mile outside of town, in a bean field there were 4 deer, 2 of them whopppers. One was looked like he was going to be an 8pt that will score dang near 135, the other was looked to be a 10 pt that would score in the 140's. I about jumped through the glass, I mean, even my wife said "whoa, look at that giant..." Then she said "Aren't you glad you came along?" That got the ol' blood rolling. Hopefully we'll be in the new house come November so I can concentrate on the rut. :cool2:
Ohiobucks
Nope, not yet. 10 years ago, I would be in a bad way right about this time of year. Once September rolls around, I'll get in gear.....
