pointing_dogs_rule
For the first time in 30 years I planted a garden. It was turning out to be beautiful. 50 feet of tomatoes of different varieties, beets, beans, peas, all kinds of peppers, cabbage, broccolli, cucumbers, pumpkins and squash. Well yesterday a severe hailstorm came trough northeast Iowa and here's whats left of the garden. Corn that was once tassling is now 2 feet tall and the soybeans have no leaves. Nothing but sticks in the ground. Most have insurance, however, prayers to the "BIG GUY" never hurt. good luck to all and GOD bless the dog
wtnhunt
Man that really is a shame, makes you feel sick after all the work put in. Weather has really messed with us this year between wind loss and flooding, but nothing like that in losses.

Weather has really messed with us this year between wind loss and flooding, but nothing like that in losses. Ditto. I would be pretty upset if that happened to my garden. Most don't know how much work goes into them and to be destroyed in 10 minutes is a real kick in the teeth. My corn got blown over the other day, right when it was starting to silk. It stood back up so I'm hopeful, but this year's garden has produced minimal returns so far.

layin on the smackdown
Yep....Not to far from where you are at. I was on my way to go golfing and check a camera and the radio broadcast came on and said hail the size of tennis balls :jaw::surrender:...Fortunately we dodged the hail but caught some heavy rain... Sorry to hear about your garden, and glad you guys are ok...That was a rough batch of storms for sure.
Doe-ee
What a shame. I feel for ya. I've never seen hail that big before.
archerjg
Sorry to hear that. We had a garden too, then the deer ate up 3 rows of beans, almost 200 tomato plants and pretty much everything else. They also ate 25-30 acres of field corn. My yields this year on corn were lousy, worst in several years.

Alisha
Man, I would be absolutely SICK! :bang: Back home in West Virginia we had some pretty bad hail storms with hail the size of quarters, which caused so much damage to a lot of vehicles that they had to be totaled. It's hard to stand there and watch hail beat the dickens out of your property. You feel totally helpless. So sorry this happened!
BuckNrut
Maybe you can just take down the fence, and put up a deer stand nearby?:eat:
OJR
It doesn't take long when hail that size comes down!
