Casey
Have you ever put a mineral site next to a food plot?? How was the results?? Did the mineral site get more attention than the plot or was it the other way around?? Do you think it hurt your food plot or did it help both?? Thinking about doing this next fall. If this needs moved in the land management then please do so. Edited July 25, 2009 by Casey
PotashRLS
We keep all our mineral sites next to bedding areas or near trails leading toward feeding areas. One thing to remember about mineral sites is that high concentrations of salt will make the deer drink more which in turn fills their bellies. Those deer will eat less thinking they are not as hungry and take in less nutrition. Less salt in your mineral the better. It's only there to give the deer a reason to eat the mineral. Jorden
I actually read something about this is whitetail news recently. They recommended putting a mineral lick away from your food plot but still within shooting distance of your stand. Seems like a good idea to me. wtnhunt
The mineral site I post pics from is just off the edge of a food plot. The mineral site and plot both see plenty of activity.
